While I was in the city of the Prophet, a man came and complained to him (the Prophet, ) of
destitution and poverty. Then another man came and complained of robbery (by highwaymen). The
Prophet said, "Adi! Have you been to Al-Hira?" I said, "I haven't been to it, but I was informed about
it." He said, "If you should live for a long time, you will certainly see that a lady in a Howdah
traveling from Al-Hira will (safely reach Mecca and) perform the Tawaf of the Ka`ba, fearing none
but Allah." I said to myself, "What will happen to the robbers of the tribe of Tai who have spread evil
through out the country?" The Prophet (ﷺ) further said. "If you should live long, the treasures of Khosrau
will be opened (and taken as spoils)." I asked, "You mean Khosrau, son of Hurmuz?" He said,
"Khosrau, son of Hurmuz; and if you should live long, you will see that one will carry a handful of
gold or silver and go out looking for a person to accept it from him, but will find none to accept it
from him. And any of you, when meeting Allah, will meet Him without needing an interpreter
between him and Allah to interpret for him, and Allah will say to him: 'Didn't I send a messenger to
teach you?' He will say: 'Yes.' Allah will say: 'Didn't I give you wealth and do you favors?' He will
say: 'Yes.' Then he will look to his right and see nothing but Hell, and look to his left and see nothing
but Hell."
`Adi further said: I heard the Prophet (ﷺ) saying, "Save yourself from the (Hell) Fire even with half a date
(to be given in charity) and if you do not find a half date, then with a good pleasant word." `Adi
added: (later on) I saw a lady in a Howdah traveling from Al-Hira till she performed the Tawaf of the
Ka`ba, fearing none but Allah. And I was one of those who opened (conquered) the treasures of
Khosrau, son of Hurmuz. If you should live long, you will see what the Prophet (ﷺ) Abu-l-Qasim had
said: 'A person will come out with a handful. of gold...etc.
Sahih al-Bukhari Book 61, Hadith 102
The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Amongst the people preceding your age, there was a man whom Allah had given a
lot of money. While he was in his death-bed, he called his sons and said, 'What type of father have I
been to you? They replied, 'You have been a good father.' He said, 'I have never done a single good
deed; so when I die, burn me, crush my body, and scatter the resulting ashes on a windy day.' His sons
did accordingly, but Allah gathered his particles and asked (him), 'What made you do so?' He replied,
"Fear of you.' So Allah bestowed His Mercy upon him. (forgave him).
Sahih al-Bukhari Book 60, Hadith 145
“The earth was
brought together for me so that I could see the east and the west,
and
I was given two treasures, the yellow (or the red) and the white
–
meaning gold and silver. And it was said to me: ‘Your dominion
will
extend as far as has been shown to you.’ I asked Allah for
three
things: That my nation would not be overwhelmed by famine that
would
destroy them all, and that they would not be rent by schism and
fight
one another, but it was said to me: ‘When I (Allah) issue My
decree it
cannot be revoked. But I will never cause your nation to be
overwhelmed by famine that would destroy them all, and I will not
gather their enemies against them (and destroy them) until they
annihilate one another and kill one another.’ Once they start to
fight
amongst themselves, that will continue until the Day of
Resurrection.
What I fear most for my nation is misguiding leaders.
Some tribes
among my nation will worship idols and some tribes among
my nation
will join the idolaters. Before the Hour comes there will
be nearly
thirty Dajjals (great liars), each of them claiming to be a
Prophet.
But a group among my nation will continue to adhere to the
truth and
be victorious, and those who oppose them will not harm
them, until the
command of Allah comes to pass.’”
Sunan Ibn Majah Book 36, Hadith 27
Yahya related to me from Malik that he had heard that the
Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, forbade
'selling and lending.'
Malik said, "The explanation of what
that meant is that one man says to another, 'I will take your goods
for such-and-such if you lend me such-and-such.' If they agree to a
transaction in this manner, it is not permitted. If the one who
stipulates the loan abandons his stipulation, then the sale is
permitted."
Malik said, "There is no harm in exchanging linen
from Shata, for garments from Itribi, or Qass, or Ziqa. Or the cloth
of Herat or Merv for Yemeni cloaks and shawls and such like as one for
two or three, from hand to hand or with delayed terms. If the goods
are of the same kind, and deferment enters into the transaction, there
is no good in it."
Malik said, "It is not good unless they
are different, and the difference between them is clear. When they
resemble each other, even if the names are different, do not take two
for one with delayed terms, for instance two garments of Herat for one
from Merv or Quhy with delayed terms, ortwo garments of Furqub for one
from Shata. All these sorts are of the same description, so do not buy
two for one, on delayed terms."
Malik said, "There is no harm
in selling what you buy of things of this nature, before you complete
the deal, to some one other than the person from whom you purchased
them if the price was paid in cash."
Muwatta Malik Book 31, Hadith 69
"The Messenger of Allah stood up to give an admonition and he said: 'O people, you will be gathered to Allah naked."' (One of the narrators) Abu Dawud said: "Barefoot and uncircumcised." (The narrators) Waki and Wahb said: "Naked and uncircumcised: As We began the first creation, We shall repeat it.
The first one to be clothed on the Day of Resurrection will be Ibrahim, peace be upon him. Then some men from among my Ummah will be brought and will be taken toward the left. I will say: 'O Lord, my companions.' It will be said: 'You do not know what they innovated after you were gone,' and I shall say what the righteous slave said: 'And I was witness over them while I dwelt amongst them, but when You took me up, You were the Watcher over them, but when You took me up, You were the Watcher over them; and You are a Witness to all things. If You punish them, they are Your slaves, and if You forgive them, verily, You, only You, are the All-Mighty, the All-Wise.' And it will be said: 'These people kept turning away since you left them.'"
