Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) narrated to us two narrations, one of which I have seen (happening) and I am waiting
for the other. He narrated that honesty was preserved in the roots of the hearts of men (in the
beginning) and then they learnt it (honesty) from the Quran, and then they learnt it from the
(Prophet's) Sunna (tradition). He also told us about its disappearance, saying, "A man will go to sleep
whereupon honesty will be taken away from his heart, and only its trace will remain, resembling the
traces of fire. He then will sleep whereupon the remainder of the honesty will also be taken away
(from his heart) and its trace will resemble a blister which is raised over the surface of skin, when an
ember touches one's foot; and in fact, this blister does not contain anything. So there will come a day
when people will deal in business with each other but there will hardly be any trustworthy persons
among them. Then it will be said that in such-and-such a tribe there is such-and-such person who is
honest, and a man will be admired for his intelligence, good manners and strength, though indeed he
will not have belief equal to a mustard seed in his heart." The narrator added: There came upon me a
time when I did not mind dealing with anyone of you, for if he was a Muslim, his religion would
prevent him from cheating; and if he was a Christian, his Muslim ruler would prevent him from
cheating; but today I cannot deal except with so-and-so and so-and-so. (See Hadith No. 208, Vol. 9)
Sahih al-Bukhari Book 81, Hadith 86
Zaynab, the wife of Abdullah ibn Mas'ud, told that Abdullah said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) saying: spells, charms and love-potions are polytheism.
I asked: Why do you say this? I swear by Allah, when my eye was discharging I used to go to so-and-so, the Jew, who applied a spell to me. When he applied the spell to me, it calmed down. Abdullah said:
That was just the work of the Devil who was picking it with his hand, and when he uttered the spell on it, he desisted. All you need to do is to say as the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to say: Remove the harm, O Lord of men, and heal. Thou art the Healer. There is no remedy but Thine which leaves no disease behind.
Sunan Abi Dawud Book 29, Hadith 29
“When you
send
peace and blessings upon the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), then do it
well, for you do not know, that may be shown to him.” They said to
him: “Teach us.” He said: “Say: ‘Allahumma aj’al salataka

upon the leader of the Messengers, the imam of

Messenger, the Imam of the
good (and the leader) of the good, and the
Messenger of mercy. O
Allah, raise him to a station of praise and
glory that will be the

Your grace, honour and
mercy upon Muhammad and upon the family of
Muhammad, as You sent Your
grace, honour and mercy upon Ibrahim, You
are indeed Praiseworthy,
Most Glorious. O Allah, send blessings upon
Muhammad and upon the
family of Muhammad as You sent blessings upon
Ibrahim and the family
of Ibrahim, You are Praiseworthy, Most
Glorious).’”
Sunan Ibn Majah Book 5, Hadith 104
"I heard Jabir bin 'Abdullah say: 'Mu'adh used to pray with the Prophet (ﷺ) then he would go back to his people to lead them in a prayer. He stayed late one night and prayed with the Prophet (ﷺ) then he went back to his people to lead them in prayer, and he recited Surat Al-Baqarah. When a man from his people heard that, he stepped aside and prayed (on his
own), then he left. They said: 'You have become a hypocrite, 0 so and-so!' He said: 'By Allah, I have not become a hypocrite, and I will go to the Prophet (ﷺ) and tell him
(about that),' So he went to the Prophet and said: '0 Messenger of Allah(ﷺ), Muadh prays with you, then he comes to lead us in prayer. You delayed the prayer, and he prayed with you then he came back to lead us in prayer, and he started to recite Shut Al-Baqarah. When I
heard that, I stepped aside and prayed by myself, because we are people who bring water with the camels and we work hard.' The Prophet (ﷺ) said to him: '0 Muadh, do you want to cause hardship to the people? Recite such and such a Surah, and such and such a Surah."'
Sunan an-Nasa'i Book 10, Hadith 59
Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) rode a donkey, equipped with a thick cloth-covering made in Fadak and was riding
behind him. He was going to pay visit to Sa`d bin Ubada in Banu Al-Harith bin Al-Khazraj; and this
incident happened before the battle of Badr. The Prophet (ﷺ) passed by a gathering in which `Abdullah
bin Ubai bin Salul was present, and that was before `Abdullah bin Ubai embraced Islam. Behold in
that gathering there were people of different religions: there were Muslims, pagans, idol-worshippers
and Jews, and in that gathering `Abdullah bin Rawaha was also present. When a cloud of dust raised
by the donkey reached that gathering, `Abdullah bin Ubai covered his nose with his garment and then
said, "Do not cover us with dust." Then Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) greeted them and stopped and dismounted and
invited them to Allah (i.e. to embrace Islam) and recited to them the Holy Quran. On that, `Abdullah
bin Ubai bin Saluil said, "O man ! There is nothing better than that what you say. If it is the truth, then
do not trouble us with it in our gatherings. Return to your mount (or residence) and if somebody
comes to you, relate (your tales) to him." On that `Abdullah bin Rawaha said, "Yes, O Allah's
Apostle! Bring it (i.e. what you want to say) to us in our gathering, for we love that."
So the Muslims, the pagans and the Jews started abusing one another till they were on the point of
fighting with one another. The Prophet (ﷺ) kept on quietening them till they became quiet, whereupon the
Prophet rode his animal (mount) and proceeded till he entered upon Sa`d bin Ubada. The Prophet (ﷺ) said
to Sa`d, "Did you not hear what 'Abu Hub-b said?" He meant `Abdullah bin Ubai. "He said so-andso."
On that Sa`d bin Ubada said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! Excuse and forgive him, for by Him Who
revealed the Book to you, Allah brought the Truth which was sent to you at the time when the people
of this town (i.e. Medina) had decided unanimously to crown him and tie a turban on his head
(electing him as chief). But when Allah opposed that (decision) through the Truth which Allah gave to
you, he (i.e. `Abdullah bin Ubai) was grieved with jealously. and that caused him to do what you have
seen." So Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) excused him, for the Prophet (ﷺ) and his companions used to forgive the pagans
and the people of Scripture as Allah had ordered them, and they used to put up with their mischief
with patience. Allah said: "And you shall certainly hear much that will grieve you from those who
received the Scripture before you and from the pagans........'(3.186) And Allah also said:--"Many of
the people of the Scripture wish if they could turn you away as disbelievers after you have believed,
from selfish envy.." (2.109)
So the Prophet (ﷺ) used to stick to the principle of forgiveness for them as long as Allah ordered him to do
so till Allah permitted fighting them. So when Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) fought the battle of Badr and Allah
killed the nobles of Quraish infidels through him, Ibn Ubai bin Salul and the pagans and idolaters who
were with him, said, "This matter (i.e. Islam) has appeared (i.e. became victorious)." So they gave the
pledge of allegiance (for embracing Islam) to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) and became Muslims.
Sahih al-Bukhari Book 65, Hadith 88
Ali said on the pulpit in the mosque of Kufah: When Friday comes, the devils go to the markets with their flags, and involve people in their needs and prevent them from the Friday prayer. The angels come early in the morning, sit at the door of the mosque, and record that so-and-so came at the first hour, and so-and-so came at the second hour until the imam comes out (for preaching).
When a man sits in a place where he can listen (to the sermon) and look (at the imam), where he remains silent and does not interrupt, he will receive a double reward. If he stays away, sits in a place where he cannot listen (to the sermon), silent, and does not interrupt, he will receive the reward only once. If he sits in a place where he can listen (to the sermon) and look (at the imam), and he does not remain silent, he will have the burden of it. If anyone says to his companion sitting besides him to be silent (while the imam is preaching), he is guilty of idle talk. Anyone who interrupts (during the sermon) will receive nothing (no reward) on that Friday.
Then he (the narrator) says in the end of this tradition: I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say so.
Abu Dawud said: This tradition has been narrated by al-Walid b. Muslim from Ibn Jabir. This version adds: bi'l-raba'ith (instead of al-raba'ith, needs preventing the people from prayer). Further, this adds: Freed slave of his wife Umm 'Uthman b. 'Ata.
Sunan Abi Dawud Book 2, Hadith 662
Yahya related to me from Malik from Yahya ibn Said from Muhammad
ibn Yahya ibn Habban from Ibn Muhayriz that a man from the Kinana
tribe called al-Mukhdaji heard a man in Syria known as Abu Muhammad
saying, "The witr is obligatory (fard)." Al-Mukhdaji said, "I went to
Ubada ibn as-Samit and presented myself to him as he was going to the
mosque, and told him what Abu Muhammad had said. Ubada said that Abu
Muhammad had lied and that he had heard the Messenger of Allah, may
Allah bless him and grant him peace, say, 'Allah the Majestic and
Mighty has written five prayers for mankind, and whoever does them and
does not waste anything of them by making light of what is due to
them, there is a pact for him with Allah that He will admit him into
the Garden.Whoever does not do them, there is no pact for him with
Allah. If He wishes, He punishes him, and if He wishes, He admits him
into the Garden.' "
