Quran 26 : 189

But they denied him, so the retribution of the day of shadow took them. It was the retribution of a terrible day

But they rejected him. Then the punishment of a day of overshadowing gloom seized them, and that was the Penalty of a Great Day

They rejected him, and then had to suffer the punishment of a day of overshadowing gloom. That was indeed the punishment of an awful day

And they denied him, so the punishment of the day of the black cloud seized them. Indeed, it was the punishment of a terrible day

But they called him liar, so the punishment of the day of shadow seized them; indeed, it was the punishment of a great day.

So they denied him, and the punishment of the day of gloom seized them. Truly it was the punishment of a tremendous day

But they denied him. So the punishment of the day of gloom gripped them. It was the punishment of a great day

They disbelieved him, so the punishment of the Day of the Shadow befell them: a day of immense suffering.

So they rejected him, and the torment of a gloomy day gripped them; it was the torment of a terrible day!

But they denied him. Then the punishment of a day of great sorrow seized them, indeed that was the penalty of a Great Day

So they rejected him. Then the punishment of the day of overshadowing gloom overtook them. That was indeed the punishment of a dreadful day

But they called him a liar, so the punishment of the day of covering overtook them; surely it was the punishment of a grievous day

But they persisted in denial. Then the Day of overshadowing gloom seized them. It was the suffering of an awesome day. (Historically, a dark extensive cloud rained upon them heavily and incessantly. It is sometimes referred to as the Day of the Canopy)

So, they falsified him. So, it took them the torment of the shadow day. Surely it was a great torment day.

But they did not believe him, and the punishment of the day of shadow seized them truly, the punishment of a terrible day.

They disbelieved him and, consequently, they incurred the retribution of the Day of the Canopy. It was the retribution of an awesome day.

They disbelieved him, and thus the scourge of the Day of Darkness smote them; it was surely the scourge of a fateful day

So they denied him, then the punishment of the day of obscuration overtook them, and it was the punishment of a tremendous day.

So they rejected him, and ˹so˺ were overtaken by the torment of the day of the ˹deadly˺ cloud. That was really a torment of a tremendous day.

They refused to believe him, so the torment of a Day of impenetrable shade overtook them. What a dreadful Day of torment that was!

They persistently denied him, so the divine retribution of the day of overshadowing overtook them. Surely it was the divine retribution of a serious day.

Thus, they obstinately refused to believe him; consequently the divine retribution of the day of overshadowing overtook them. Surely it was the divine retribution of serious day.

Thus they rejected him, so they were seized by the torment of the Day of Canopy. Indeed it was the punishment of a terrible day

They rejected him and then the torment of the gloomy day struck them. It was certainly a great torment

But they denied him, so there came on them the retribution of the day of gloom. Lo! it was the retribution of an awful day

Yet they cried him lies; then the torment of the Day of the Overshadowing took them (away); surely it was the torment of a Tremendous Day

But they gave him the lie. And thereupon suffering overtook them on a day dark with shadows: and, verily, it was the suffering of an awesome day

So they denied him , so torture (of) the shade's day/time punished/took them, that it truly was a great day's/time's torture

So they disbelieved him. And thereupon punishment gripped them on a gloomy day. And, verily, it was a punishment of a dreadful day

So they denied him therefore the punishment of the over shadowing cloud seized them, it was certainly a punishment of a great day.

But they rejected him, so the chastisement of the day of Covering overtook them. Surely it was the chastisement of a grievous day

Then they branded him a liar, whereupon the chastisement of the Day of Canopy overtook them. It was the chastisement of a very awesome day

They rejected him. Then the punishment of a dark day seized them. Truly, that was the penalty of a great day.

And when they treated him as a liar, the chastisement of the day of cloud overtook them. This truly was the chastisement of a dreadful day

So they rejected him, and the torment of a gloomy day gripped them; it was the torment of a terrible day!

But they belied him, so the torment of the day of shadow (a gloomy cloud) seized them, indeed that was the torment of a Great Day

But they belied him, then the punishment of the Day of Shadow (raining fire) seized them. Truly, it was the punishment of a dreadful day

But they rejected him, so the torment of the day of gloom (Ashes from a volcanic eruption?) seized them. Lo! It was the retribution of an awful day

And they charged him with falsehood: Wherefore the punishment of the day of the shadowing cloud overtook them; and this was the punishment of a grievous day

But they belied him so the punishment of the day of the cloud seized them. Truly it was a punishment of an awful day.

In response they denied him – therefore the punishment of the day of the tent * seized them; that was indeed a punishment of a Great Day. (The clouds formed a tent and rained fire upon them)

but they called him liar, and the torment of the day of the shadow seized them; for it was the torment of a mighty day

Thus, they rejected him. So, the punishment of the day of canopy (when dark clouds spread across like a canopy) grabbed them. It really was the punishment of a terrible day

So they rejected Shu‘ayb, and the torment of the Day of Shadow seized them. No doubt, that was the torment of a terrible day

But they denied him. So took them the punishment on the overshadowing day. Truly, that had been the punishment of a tremendous Day!

So they belied him, then the torment seized them in the day of over-shadowing gloom. Indeed, it was a punishment of a dreadful day

But they denied him so seized them (the) punishment (of the) day (of) the shadow Indeed, it was (the) punishment (of) a Day Great

But they rejected him. Then came the punishment of a day of the shadow, and that was the penalty of a great day

Thus they rejected him and, consequently, a Canopy (out of which they were being bombarded, as they has asked for) was sent for their punishment. It was an awesome day, an awesome punishment

So, they denied him, then the punishment of a cloudy day (of fire) took them. Indeed, it was the punishment of a great day.

But they cried him lies; then there seized them the chastisement of the Day of Shadow; assuredly it was the chastisement of a dreadful day

Yet they cried him lies, so the punishment of the gloomy day with dark overshadowing clouds overtook them; it was indeed the punishment of an awful day

So they denied him and in consequence, the punishment of the Day of the Overshadowing seized them. It surely was the punishment of an awesome day

So they impugned him, and then they were overtaken by the punishment of the day of the overshadowing cloud. It was indeed the punishment of a tremendous day

They denied him and the punishment of the Day of Shadow came down on them. It was indeed the punishment of a terrible Day.

Then they belied him, therefore, the torment of the day of shadow overtook them. Undoubtedly, it was a torment of a great day.

Thus they denied Him and the intense suffering of that dark day caught them... Indeed, it was a tremendous time of a suffering.

But they denied him, and We seized them with the torment of the Day of Shadowing (when the cloud had rained down fire). It was indeed the torment of a terrible day

Thenn they belied him; wherefore there laid hold of -them the torment of day of shadow. Verily it was the torment of a Mighty Day

But they denied him, so the punishment of the Day of shadow (cloud carrying Allah’s punishment) seized them, indeed that was the punishment of a great Day.

They called him a liar, and so the torment of the Day of Shadow came upon them- it was the torment of a terrible day
