During the lifetime of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) I was shooting some of my arrows in Medina, when the sun eclipsed. I threw (the arrows) and said: By Allah, I must see how the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) acts in solar eclipse. So I came to him and he was standing in prayer, raising his hands, glorifying Him, praising Him, acknowledging His Oneness, declaring His greatness, and supplicating Him, till the sun cleared. When the eclipse was over, he recited two surahs and prayed two rak'ahs.
Sahih Muslim Book 10, Hadith 28
from Ubadah bin As-Samit, he said: "I entered upon him while he was dying, so I cried, and he said: "There now, why are you crying? For by Allah, if I am a martyr , then I will intercede for you, and if I can I will benefit you,' then he said: 'By Allah! There is no Hadith which I heard from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) which is good for you but I narrate it to you today, while I am near death. I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: "Whoever testifies to La Ilaha Illallah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, then Allah has forbidden the fire for him."
Jami` at-Tirmidhi Book 40, Hadith 33
Yahya related to me from Malik from Muhammad ibn al-Munkadir and
from Salim ibn Abi'n-Nadr, the mawla of Umar ibn Ubaydullah that Amir
ibn Sad ibn Abi Waqqas heard his father ask Usama ibn Zayd, "Have you
heard anything from the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and
grant him peace, about the plague?" Usama said, "The Messenger of
Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, 'The plague is a
punishment that was sent down on a party of the Banu Israil or whoever
was before them. When you hear of it in a land, do not enter it. If it
comes upon a land and you are in it, do not depart in flight from it.'
"
Malik said that Abu'n-Nadr said, "That is, do not depart
with no other intention but flight."
Muwatta Malik Book 45, Hadith 22
In the lifetime of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) (p.b.u.h) the sun eclipsed, so he led the people in prayer, and stood
up and performed a long Qiyam, then bowed for a long while. He stood up again and performed a
long Qiyam but this time the period of standing was shorter than the first. He bowed again for a long
time but shorter than the first one, then he prostrated and prolonged the prostration. He did the same in
the second rak`a as he did in the first and then finished the prayer; by then the sun (eclipse) had
cleared. He delivered the Khutba (sermon) and after praising and glorifying Allah he said, "The sun
and the moon are two signs against the signs of Allah; they do not eclipse on the death or life of
anyone. So when you see the eclipse, remember Allah and say Takbir, pray and give Sadaqa." The
Prophet then said, "O followers of Muhammad! By Allah! There is none who has more ghaira (selfrespect)
than Allah as He has forbidden that His slaves, male or female commit adultery (illegal
sexual intercourse). O followers of Muhammad! By Allah! If you knew that which I know you would
laugh little and weep much.
