Yahya related to me from Malik from Abd ar-Rahman ibn al-Qasim
from his father that A'isha said, "I came to Makka at the time of my
period so I did not do tawaf of the House or go between Safa and
Marwa. I complained to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and
grant him peace, and he said, 'Do what the people doing hajj do except
do not do tawaf of the House and go between Safa and Marwa until you
are pure.' "
Malik said, concerning a woman who entered ihram
for umra at the time of hajj, and she arrived in Makka during her
period and so could not do tawaf of the House, "When she fears that
the time (for hajj) is getting close, she gets into ihram for the hajj
and sacrifices an animal. She is like someone who combines the hajj
and the umra. One tawaf is enough for her. If a women starts her
period after she has already done tawaf of the House and prayed, she
does say between Safa and Marwa and stops at Arafa and Muzdalifa and
stones the jamras but she does not do the tawaf al-ifada until she is
pure and has finished her menses."
Muwatta Malik Book 20, Hadith 236
'Uyaina bin Hisn bin Hudhaifa came and stayed with his nephew Al-Hurr bin Qais who was one of
those whom `Umar used to keep near him, as the Qurra' (learned men knowing Qur'an by heart) were
the people of `Umar's meetings and his advisors whether they were old or young. 'Uyaina said to his
nephew, "O son of my brother! You have an approach to this chief, so get for me the permission to see
him." Al-Hurr said, "I will get the permission for you to see him." So Al-Hurr asked the permission
for 'Uyaina and `Umar admitted him. When 'Uyaina entered upon him, he said, "Beware! O the son of
Al-Khattab! By Allah, you neither give us sufficient provision nor judge among us with justice."
Thereupon `Umar became so furious that he intended to harm him, but Al-Hurr said, "O chief of the
Believers! Allah said to His Prophet: "Hold to forgiveness; command what is right; and leave (don't
punish) the foolish." (7.199) and this (i.e. 'Uyaina) is one of the foolish." By Allah, `Umar did not
overlook that Verse when Al-Hurr recited it before him; he observed (the orders of) Allah's Book
strictly.
Sahih al-Bukhari Book 65, Hadith 164
(daughter of Abu Sufyan) I said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! Marry my sister. the daughter of Abu Sufyan."
The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Do you like that?" I replied, "Yes, for even now I am not your only wife and I like
that my sister should share the good with me." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "But that is not lawful for me." I
said, We have heard that you want to marry the daughter of Abu Salama." He said, "(You mean) the
daughter of Um Salama?" I said, "Yes." He said, "Even if she were not my step-daughter, she would
be unlawful for me to marry as she is my foster niece. I and Abu Salama were suckled by Thuwaiba.
So you should not present to me your daughters or your sisters (in marriage)."
Narrated 'Urwa:
Thuwaiba was the freed slave girl of Abu Lahb whom he had manumitted, and then she suckled the
Prophet. When Abu Lahb died, one of his relatives saw him in a dream in a very bad state and asked
him, "What have you encountered?" Abu Lahb said, "I have not found any rest since I left you, except
that I have been given water to drink in this (the space between his thumb and other fingers) and that
is because of my manumitting Thuwaiba."
Sahih al-Bukhari Book 67, Hadith 39
There was a disagreement between them (i.e. Ibn `Abbas and Ibn Az-Zubair) so I went to Ibn `Abbas
in the morning and said (to him), "Do you want to fight against Ibn Zubair and thus make lawful what
Allah has made unlawful (i.e. fighting in Meccas?" Ibn `Abbas said, "Allah forbid! Allah ordained
that Ibn Zubair and Bani Umaiya would permit (fighting in Mecca), but by Allah, I will never regard it
as permissible." Ibn `Abbas added. "The people asked me to take the oath of allegiance to Ibn
AzZubair. I said, 'He is really entitled to assume authority for his father, Az-Zubair was the helper of
the Prophet, his (maternal) grandfather, Abu Bakr was (the Prophet's) companion in the cave, his
mother, Asma' was 'Dhatun-Nitaq', his aunt, `Aisha was the mother of the Believers, his paternal aunt,
Khadija was the wife of the Prophet (ﷺ) , and the paternal aunt of the Prophet (ﷺ) was his grandmother. He
himself is pious and chaste in Islam, well versed in the Knowledge of the Qur'an. By Allah! (Really, I
left my relatives, Bani Umaiya for his sake though) they are my close relatives, and if they should be
my rulers, they are equally apt to be so and are descended from a noble family.
Sahih al-Bukhari Book 65, Hadith 187
We marched upon Khaibar with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ). We journeyed during the night. One of the people said to (my brother) 'Amir b. al-Akwa': Won't you recite to us some of your verses? Amir was a poet. So he began to chant his verses to urge the camels, reciting:
O God, if Thou hadst not guided us
We would have neither been guided rightly nor practised charity,
Nor offered prayers.
We wish to lay down our lives for Thee; so forgive Thou our lapses,
And keep us steadfast when we encounter (our enemies).
Bestow upon us peace and tranquillity.
Behold, when with a cry they called upon us to help.
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Who is this driver (of the camels)? They said: It is 'Amir. He said: God will show mercy to him. A man said: Martyrdom is reserved for him. Messenger of Allah, would that you had allowed us to benefit ourselves from his life. (The narrator says): We reached Khaibar and besieged them, and (we continued the siege) until extreme hunger afflicted us. Then the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Behold, God has conquered it for you. When it was evening of the day on which the city was conquered. the Muslims lit many fires. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: What are these fires? And what are they cooking? They said: They are cooking meat. He asked. Which meat? They said: That of domestic asses. He said: Let them throw it away and break the pots (in which it is being cooked). A man said: Or should they throw it away and wash the pots? He said: They may do that. When the people drew themselves up in battle array 'Amir caught hold of his sword that was rather short He drove a Jew before him to strike him with it. (As he struck him), his sword recoiled and struck his own knee, and 'Amir died of the wound. When the people returned (after the conquest of Kliaibar) and he (Salama) had caught hold of my hand, and said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) saw that I was silent (and dejected) ; he said: What's the matter with thee? I said to him: My father and my mother be thy ransom, people presume that 'Amir's sacrifice has been in vain. He asked: Who has said that? I said: So and so and Usaid b. Hudair al-Ansari. He said: Who has said that has lied. For him (for 'Amir) there is a double reward. (He indicated this by putting two of his fingers together.) He was a devotee of God and a warrior fighting for His cause. There will be hardly any Arab who can fight as bravely as he did. Qutaiba has differed in a few words.
Sahih Muslim Book 32, Hadith 150
I went to Abu Wail to ask him (about those who had rebelled against `Ali). On that Abu Wail said,
"We were at Siffin (a city on the bank of the Euphrates, the place where me battle took place between
`Ali and Muawiya) A man said, "Will you be on the side of those who are called to consult Allah's
Book (to settle the dispute)?" `Ali said, 'Yes (I agree that we should settle the matter in the light of the
Qur'an)." ' Some people objected to `Ali's agreement and wanted to fight. On that Sahl bin Hunaif
said, 'Blame yourselves! I remember how, on the day of Al-Hudaibiya (i.e. the peace treaty between
the Prophet (ﷺ) and the Quraish pagans), if we had been allowed to choose fighting, we would have
fought (the pagans). At that time `Umar came (to the Prophet) and said, "Aren't we on the right (path)
and they (pagans) in the wrong? Won't our killed persons go to Paradise, and theirs in the Fire?" The
Prophet replied, "Yes." `Umar further said, "Then why should we let our religion be degraded and
return before Allah has settled the matter between us?" The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "O the son of Al-Khattab!
No doubt, I am Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) and Allah will never neglect me." So `Umar left the place angrily and
he was so impatient that he went to Abu Bakr and said, "O Abu Bakr! Aren't we on the right (path)
and they (pagans) on the wrong?" Abu Bakr said, "O the son of Al-Khattab! He is Allah's Messenger (ﷺ), and
Allah will never neglect him." Then Sura Al-Fath (The Victory) was revealed."
Sahih al-Bukhari Book 65, Hadith 365
'I was sitting in a gathering with the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) when Mus'ab bin 'Umair appeared before us, wearing nothing but a Burdah patched with some animal furs. When the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) saw him he began crying because of the good life he previously had compared to the state that he was in that day. Then the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said:
'How will you people be, when the late morning comes upon one of you while wearing a Hullah, and at the end of the day he is in, (another) Hullah, when a platter is placed in front of him while another is removed, and you cover your houses just as the Ka'bah is covered?' They said: 'O Messenger of Allah! On that day we will be better than we are today, devoting ourselves to worship, satisfied with our good fortune.' So the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said: 'No, today you are better than you will be on that day.'"
Jami` at-Tirmidhi Book 37, Hadith 62
Yahya related to me from Malik from Ibn Shihab that Salim ibn
Abdullah said, ''Abd al-Malik ibn Marwan wrote to al-Hajjaj ibn Yusuf
telling him not to disagree with Abdullah ibn Umar about anything to
do with the hajj. Then, when the day of Arafa came Abdullah ibn Umar
went to him just after noon, and I went with him. He called out to him
outside his tent, 'Where is this man?' and a-lHajjaj came out to him,
wearing a blanket dyed with safflower, and said to him, 'What's up
with you, Abu Abd ar-Rahman?' He said, 'Hurry up, if you want to
follow the sunna.' Al-Hajjaj said, 'At this hour?' and he said, 'Yes.'
Al-Hajjaj said, 'Wait until I have poured some water over myself, and
then I will come out.' So Abdullah dismounted and waited until al-
Hajjaj came out. He passed between me and my father and I said to him,
'If you want to accord with the sunna today, then make the khutba
short, do not delay the prayer and do the prayer quickly.' Then he
began looking at Abdullah ibn Umar to see if he would say the same
thing, and when Abdullah saw that, he said, 'What Salim is saying is
true.' "

Dhu-l-Hijja, and the Jumua at Mina and Arafa
Muwatta Malik Book 20, Hadith 206
Ibn 'Umar used to let out his land till it reached him that Rafi' b. Khadij al-Ansari narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) forbade let out land. So 'Abd Allah (b. 'Umar) said: Ibn Khadij, what do you narrate from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) about leasing the land? Rafi' replied to 'Abd Allah b. 'Umar: I heard both of my uncles were present in the battle of Badr say, and they narrated it to the members of the family, that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) forbade leasing land. 'Abd Allah said: I swear by Allah, I knew that land was leased in the time of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ). 'Abd Allah then feared that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) might have created something new in that matter, so he gave up leasing land.
Abu Dawud said: This tradition has also been transmitted by Ayyub, 'Ubaid Allah, Kathir b. Farqad, Malik from Nafi' on the authority of Rafi' from the Prophet (ﷺ). It has also been transmitted by al-Auzai' from Hafs b. 'Inan al-Hanafi from Nafi' from Rafi' who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: Similarly, it has been transmitted by Zaid b. Abi Unaisah from al-Hakkam from Nafi' from Ibn 'Umar that he went to Rafi' and asked: Have you heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say? He replied: Yes. Similarly, it has also been transmitted by 'Ikrimah b. 'Ammar from Abu al-Najashi, from Rafi' b. Khadij who said: I heard the Prophet (ﷺ) say. It has also been transmitted by al-Auza'i from Abu al-Najashi from Rafi' b. Khadij from his uncle Zuhair b. Rafi' from the Prophet (ﷺ).
Abu Dawud said: The name of Abu al-Najashi is 'Ata b. Suhaib.
Sunan Abi Dawud Book 23, Hadith 69
While we were with the Prophet (ﷺ) , a man stood up and said (to the Prophet (ﷺ) ), "I beseech you by Allah,
that you should judge us according to Allah's Laws." Then the man's opponent who was wiser than
him, got up saying (to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)) "Judge us according to Allah's Law and kindly allow me (to
speak)." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "'Speak." He said, "My son was a laborer working for this man and he
committed an illegal sexual intercourse with his wife, and I gave one-hundred sheep and a slave as a
ransom for my son's sin. Then I asked a learned man about this case and he informed me that my son
should receive one hundred lashes and be exiled for one year, and the man's wife should be stoned to
death." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "By Him in Whose Hand my soul is, I will judge you according to the Laws
of Allah. Your one-hundred sheep and the slave are to be returned to you, and your son has to receive
one-hundred lashes and be exiled for one year. O Unais! Go to the wife of this man, and if she
confesses, then stone her to death." Unais went to her and she confessed. He then stoned her to death.
Sahih al-Bukhari Book 86, Hadith 54
“The believers will be gathered on the Day of Resurrection,
inspired or worried.” – Sa’eed was not sure – “And they
will say: ‘If we seek someone to intercede for us with our Lord, we
may find relief from our situation.’ So they will go to Adam and
will say: ‘You are Adam, the father of mankind. Allah created you
with His Hand and His angels prostrated to you. Intercede for us with
your Lord, that He might grant us relief from our situation.’ He
will say: ‘I am not the one,’ and he will mention to them and
complain of the sin that he committed. He will feel too shy to do
that (and will say): ‘Rather go to Nuh, for he is the first
Messenger whom Allah sent to the people of earth.’ So they will go
to him, but he will say: ‘I am not the one,’ and he will mention
of how he asked of Allah that of which he had no knowledge.* He will
feel too shy to do that (and will say): ‘Rather go to the Close
Friend of the Most Merciful, Ibrahim.’ So they will go to him and
he will say: ‘I am not the one. Rather go to Musa, a slave to whom
Allah spoke and to whom He gave the Torah.’ So they will go to him
and he will say: ‘I am not the one,’ and he will mention how he
killed a soul, not in retaliation for murder (and will say): ‘Rather
go to ‘Isa, the slave of Allah and His Messenger, the Word of Allah
and a spirit created by Him.’ So they will go to him, but he will
say: ‘I am not the one. Rather go to Muhammad, a slave whose past
and future sins Allah forgave.’ So they will come to me and I will
go with them.” – There was a similar report from Hasan who added
(the Prophet (ﷺ) said:) And I will walk between two rows of the
believers.” Then he went back to the Hadith of Anas. – And he
said: “And I will ask my Lord for permission and permission will be
given to me. When I see Him I will fall down prostrating, and I will
be left as long as Allah wills to leave me. Then it will be said:
‘Get up, O Muhammad. Speak, you will be heard; ask, you will be
given; intercede, your intercession will be accepted.’ I will
praise Him with praise that He will teach me, then I will intercede,
and a limit will be set. Then they will be admitted to Paradise, and
I will come back a second time. When I see Him I will fall down
prostrating, and I will be left as long as Allah wills to leave me.
Then it will be said: ‘Get up, O Muhammad. Speak, you will be
heard; ask, you will be given; intercede, your intercession will be
accepted.’ I will praise Him with praise that He will teach me,
then I will intercede, and a limit will be set. Then they will be
admitted to Paradise, and I will come back a third time. When I see
Him I will fall down prostrating, and I will be left as long as Allah
wills to leave me. Then it will be said: ‘Get up, O Muhammad.
Speak, you will be heard; ask, you will be given; intercede, your
intercession will be accepted.’ I will praise Him with praise that
He will teach me, then I will intercede, and a limit will be set.
Then they will be admitted to Paradise, and I will come back a fourth
time and will say: ‘O Lord, there is no one left except those who
are detained by the Qur’an.’” **
Qatadah (the Tabi'ee in the chain) would narrate after this hadith that Anas (ra) said "Those who said 'La illaha illa Allah' (there is no god except Allah) and had the weight of a grain of barley in good in his heart will come out of the Fire, and those who said 'La illaha illa Allah' and had a weight of a grain of wheat in good in his heart will come out of the Fire, and those who said 'La illaha illa Allah' and had a weight of a grain of dust in good in his heart will come out of the Fire."
Sunan Ibn Majah Book 37, Hadith 213
That once he was in the company of the Prophet (ﷺ) carrying a water pot for his ablution and for cleaning
his private parts. While he was following him carrying it (i.e. the pot), the Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Who is this?"
He said, "I am Abu Huraira." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Bring me stones in order to clean my private parts,
and do not bring any bones or animal dung." Abu Huraira went on narrating: So I brought some
stones, carrying them in the corner of my robe till I put them by his side and went away. When he
finished, I walked with him and asked, "What about the bone and the animal dung?" He said, "They
are of the food of Jinns. The delegate of Jinns of (the city of) Nasibin came to me--and how nice those
Jinns were--and asked me for the remains of the human food. I invoked Allah for them that they
would never pass by a bone or animal dung but find food on them."
