A woman came to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) and said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! Men (only) benefit by your teachings,
so please devote to us from (some of) your time, a day on which we may come to you so that you may
teach us of what Allah has taught you." Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "Gather on such-and-such a day at suchand-
such a place." They gathered and Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) came to them and taught them of what Allah
had taught him. He then said, "No woman among you who has lost her three children (died) but that
they will screen her from the Fire." A woman among them said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! If she lost two
children?" She repeated her question twice, whereupon the Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Even two, even two, even
two!" (See Hadith No. 341, Vol. 2)
Sahih al-Bukhari Book 96, Hadith 41
Yahya related to me from Malik that he had heard that Said ibn
al-Musayyab was asked whether a man who had vowed to fast a month
could fast voluntarily, and Said said, "He should fulfil his vow
before he does any voluntary fasting."
Malik said, "I have
heard the same thing from Sulayman ibn Yasar."
Malik said,
"If someone dies with an unfulfilled vow to free a slave or to fast or
to give sadaqa or to give away a camel, and makes a bequest that his
vow should be fulfilled from his estate, then the sadaqa or the gift
of the camel are taken from one third of his estate. Preference is
given to it over other bequests, except things of a similar nature,
because by his vow it has become incumbent on him, and this is not the
case with something he donates voluntarily. They (vows and voluntary
donations) are settled from a limited one-third of his estate, and not
from the whole of it, since if the dying man were free to dispose of
all of his estate, he might delay settling what had become incumbent
on him (i.e. his vows), so that when death came and the estate passed
into the hands of his heirs, he would have bequeathed such things
(i.e. his vows) that were not claimed by anyone (like debts). If that
(i.e. to dispose freely of his property) were allowed him, he would
delay these things (i.e. his vows) until when he was near death, he
would designate them and they might take up all of his estate. He must
not do that."
Muwatta Malik Book 18, Hadith 45
One day while the Prophet (ﷺ) was sitting in the company of some people,
(The angel) Gabriel came and asked, "What is faith?" Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)
replied, 'Faith is to believe in Allah, His angels, (the) meeting with
Him, His Apostles, and to believe in Resurrection." Then he further
asked, "What is Islam?" Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) replied, "To worship Allah
Alone and none else, to offer prayers perfectly to pay the compulsory
charity (Zakat) and to observe fasts during the month of Ramadan."
Then he further asked, "What is Ihsan (perfection)?" Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)
replied, "To worship Allah as if you see Him, and if you cannot
achieve this state of devotion then you must consider that He is
looking at you." Then he further asked, "When will the Hour be
established?" Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) replied, "The answerer has no better
knowledge than the questioner. But I will inform you about its
portents.
1. When a slave (lady) gives birth to her master.
2. When the shepherds of black camels start boasting and competing
with others in the construction of higher buildings. And the Hour is
one of five things which nobody knows except Allah.
The Prophet (ﷺ) then recited: "Verily, with Allah (Alone) is the knowledge
of the Hour--." (31. 34) Then that man (Gabriel) left and the Prophet (ﷺ)
asked his companions to call him back, but they could not see him.
Then the Prophet (ﷺ) said, "That was Gabriel who came to teach the people
their religion." Abu 'Abdullah said: He (the Prophet) considered all
that as a part of faith.
Sahih al-Bukhari Book 2, Hadith 43
Az-Zubair had three scars
caused by the sword, one of which was over his shoulder and I used to
insert my fingers in it. He received two of those wounds on the day of
Badr and one on the day of Al-Yarmuk. When 'Abdullah bin Zubair was
killed, 'Abdul-Malik bin Marwan said to me, "O 'Urwa, do you recognize
the sword of Az-Zubair?" I said, "Yes." He said, "What marks does it
have?" I replied, "It has a dent in its sharp edge which was caused in
it on the day of Badr." 'Abdul- Malik said, "You are right! (i.e.
their swords) have dents because of clashing with the regiments of the
enemies Then 'Abdul-Malik returned that sword to me (i.e. Urwa).
(Hisham, 'Urwa's son said, "We estimated the price of the sword as
three-thousand (Dinars) and after that it was taken by one of us (i.e.
the inheritors) and I wish I could have had it.")
Sahih al-Bukhari Book 64, Hadith 26
Regarding His (Allah's) Statement:-- 'Move not your tongue concerning (the Qur'an) to make haste
therewith.' (75.16) And whenever Gabriel descended to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) with the Divine Inspiration,
Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) used to move his tongue and lips, and that used to be hard for him, and one could
easily recognize that he was being inspired Divinely. So Allah revealed the Verse which occurs in the
Surah starting with "I do swear by the Day of Resurrection.' (75.1) i.e. 'Move not your tongue
concerning (the Qur'an) to make haste then with. It is for Us to collect it (in your mind) (O
Muhammad) an give you the ability to recite it 'by heart.' (75.16-17) which means: It is for us to
collect it (in your mind) and give you the ability to recite it by heart. And when We have recited it to
you (O Muhammad) through Gabriel then follow you its recital. (75.18) means: 'When We reveal it
(the Qur'an) to you, Listen to it.' for then: It is for Us to explain it and make it clear to you' (75.19)
i.e. It is up to Us to explain it through your tongue. So, when Gabriel came to him, Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)
would listen to him attentively, and as soon as Gabriel left, he would recite the Revelations, as Allah
had promised him.
Sahih al-Bukhari Book 66, Hadith 68
While we were with Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) he said, "Tell me of a tree which resembles a Muslim man. Its
leaves do not fall and it does not, and does not, and does not, and it gives its fruits every now and
then." It came to my mind that such a tree must be the date palm, but seeing Abu Bakr and `Umar
saying nothing, I disliked to speak. So when they did not say anything, Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "It is the
date-palm tree." When we got up (from that place), I said to `Umar, "O my father! By Allah, it came
to my mind that it must be the date palm tree." `Umar said, "What prevented you from speaking" I
replied, "I did not see you speaking, so I misliked to speak or say anything." `Umar then said, "If you
had said it, it would have been dearer to me than so-and-so."
Sahih al-Bukhari Book 65, Hadith 220
From Maimunah that a mouse fell in some cooking fat and died. So the Prophet (ﷺ) was asked about that and he said: "Remove it (the mouse) and what was around it and then eat it (the fat)."
He said: There are something on this topic from Abu Hurairah.
This Hadith is Hasan Sahih. This Hadith has been related from Az-Zuhri, from 'Ubaidullah, from Ibn 'Abbas, saying: "The Prophet (ﷺ) as asked" and they did not mention Maimunah in it. The narration of Ibn 'Abbas from Maimunah is more correct. Ma'mar reported similar from Az-Zuhri, from Sa'eed bin Al-Musayyab, from Abu Hurairah, from the Prophet (ﷺ). But this hadith is not preserved. He said: I heard Muhammad bin Isma'il saying: "The Hadith of Ma'mar from Az-Zuhri, from Sa'eed bin al-Musayyab, from Abu Hurairah, from the Prophet (ﷺ)" - and he mentioned in it: 'That he was asked about it, so he said: "When it (the coking fat) is solid then remove it (the mouse) and what was around it. And when it is liquid then do not use it.'" This is a mistake. Ma'mar made a mistake with it. And he said: What is correct is the narration of Az-Zuhri from 'Ubaidullah, from Ibn 'Abbas, and Maimunah.
Jami` at-Tirmidhi Book 25, Hadith 12
When Khaibar was conquered, Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) was presented with a poisoned (roasted) sheep. Allah's
Apostle said, "Collect for me all the Jews present in this area." (When they were gathered) Allah's
Apostle said to them, "I am going to ask you about something; will you tell me the truth?" They
replied, "Yes, O Abal-Qasim!" Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said to them, "Who is your father?" They said, "Our
father is so-and-so." Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "You have told a lie. for your father is so-and-so," They
said, "No doubt, you have said the truth and done the correct thing." He again said to them, "If I ask
you about something; will you tell me the truth?" They replied, "Yes, O Abal-Qasim! And if we
should tell a lie you will know it as you have known it regarding our father," Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) then
asked, "Who are the people of the (Hell) Fire?" They replied, "We will remain in the (Hell) Fire for a
while and then you (Muslims) will replace us in it" Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said to them. ''You will abide in it
with ignominy. By Allah, we shall never replace you in it at all." Then he asked them again, "If I ask
you something, will you tell me the truth?" They replied, "Yes." He asked. "Have you put the poison
in this roasted sheep?" They replied, "Yes," He asked, "What made you do that?" They replied, "We
intended to learn if you were a liar in which case we would be relieved from you, and if you were a
prophet then it would not harm you."
Sahih al-Bukhari Book 76, Hadith 89
"Ibn 'Umar and I went to Abu Sa'eed and he narrated to us: 'the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said - and I heard him with these ears: "Do not sell gold for gold except kind for kind, nor sliver for silver except kind for kind, do not exchange more of one than the other, and do not sell what is not present from them for what is present."
There are narrations on this topic from Abu Bakr, 'Umar, 'Uthman, Abu Hurairah, Hisham bin 'Amir, Al-Bara', Zaid bin Arqam, Fadalah bin 'Ubaid, Abu Bakrah, Ibn 'Umar, Abu Ad-Darda', and Bilal.
is a Hasan Sahih Hadith.
This is acted upon according to the people of knowledge among the Companions of the Prophet (ﷺ) and others, except for what has been related from Ibn 'Abbas; he did not see any harm in exchanging gold for gold or silver for silver, more for less, when it is done hand in hand, and he said: "Riba' is only in credit." Similar it has been related from some of his companions. It has been related that Ibn 'Abbas changed his opinion when Abu Sa'eed narrated it to him from the Prophet (ﷺ). The first view is more correct.
And this is acted upon according to the people of knowledge . It is the view of Sufyan Ath-Thawri, Ibn Al-Mubarak, Ash-Shafi'i, Ahmad, and Ishaq. It has been reported that Ibn Al-Mubarak said: "There is no difference over exchange."
Jami` at-Tirmidhi Book 14, Hadith 41
“I accompanied Shaddad bin Aws on a journey, so he said: ‘Should I not teach you what the Messenger of Allah used to teach us? That you say: “O Allah, I ask You for steadfastness in the affair and I ask You for determination upon guidance, and I ask You to make me grateful for Your favor, and excellence in worshiping You, and I ask You for a truthful tongue and a sound heart, and I seek refuge in You from the evil of what You know, and I ask You for the good of what You know, and I seek Your forgiveness for that which You know. Verily, You are the Knower of all that is hidden (Allāhumma innī as’alukath-thabāta fil-amri, wa as’aluka `azīmatar-rushdi, wa as’aluka shukra ni`matika, wa ḥusna `ibādatika, wa as’aluka lisānan ṣādiqan wa qalban salīman, wa a`ūdhu bika min sharri mā ta`lamu, wa as’aluka min khairi mā ta`lamu, wa astaghfiruka mimmā ta`lamu innaka anta `allāmul-ghuyūb).’” He said: ‘The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “There is no Muslim who lays down to sleep while reciting a Surat from Allah’s Book, except that Allah entrusts an angel, so that nothing approaches him to harm him until he awakens, whenever he awakens.”
Jami` at-Tirmidhi Book 48, Hadith 38
Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) addressed the people saying, "Don't you know what is the day today?" They replied,
"Allah and His Apostle know better." We thought that he might give that day another name. The
Prophet said, "Isn't it the day of An-Nahr?" We replied, "Yes. O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)." He then said, "What
town is this? Isn't it the forbidden (Sacred) Town (Mecca)?" We replied, "Yes, O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)." He
then said, "Your blood, your properties, your honors and your skins (i.e., bodies) are as sacred to one
another like the sanctity of this day of yours in this month of yours in this town of yours. (Listen)
Haven't I conveyed Allah's message to you?" We replied, "Yes" He said, "O Allah! Be witness (for it).
So it is incumbent upon those who are present to convey it (this message of mine) to those who are
absent because the informed one might comprehend what I have said better than the present audience
who will convey it to him.)" The narrator added: In fact, it was like that. The Prophet (ﷺ) added, "Beware!
Do not renegade as disbelievers after me by striking (cutting) the necks of one another."
Sahih al-Bukhari Book 92, Hadith 29
The Prophet (ﷺ) said to him: “Should I not direct you to the chief of supplications for forgiveness? ‘O Allah, You are my Lord, there is none worthy of worship except You, You created me and I am Your slave. I am adhering to Your covenant and Your promise as much as I am able to, I seek refuge in You from the evil of what I have done. I admit to You your blessings upon me, and I admit to my sins. So forgive me, for there is none who can forgive sins except You (Allāhumma anta rabbī lā ilāha illā anta, khalaqtanī wa ana `abduka, wa ana `alā `ahdika wa wa`dika ma-staṭa`tu. A`ūdhu bika min sharri ma ṣana`tu, wa abū'u ilayka bini`matika `alayya wa a`tarifu bidhunūbī faghfirlī dhunūbī innahu lā yaghfirudh-dhunūba illā ant).’ None of you says it when he reaches the evening, and a decree comes upon him before he reaches morning, except that Paradise becomes obligatory upon him. And none says it when he reaches the morning, and a decree comes upon him before he reaches evening, except that Paradise becomes obligatory for him.”
