This view of the Khawarij (i.e. those who commit major sins and would be eternally doomed to Hell) had obsessed me, and we set out in a large group intending to perform the Hajj and then going to the people (for the propagation of the views of the Khawarij). He (the narrator) said: We happened to past by Medina and found there Jabir b. 'Abdullah sitting near a column narrating to the people (the ahadith of) the Prophet (ﷺ). When he mentioned the inhabitants of Hell, I said: O companion of the Messenger of Allah what is this that you narrate, whereas Allah says: "Verily whomsoever Thou shall commit to the Fire, Thou indeed humiliateth him" (al-Qur'an, iii. 192); and All those who endeavored to get out of that would be thrown back into it" (al-Qur'an, xxxi i. 20)? So what is it that you say? He said: Have you read the Qur'an? I said: Yes. He said: Have you heard about the (exalted) position of Muhammad (ﷺ), i.e. to which Allah would raise, him? I said: Yes. He said: Verily the position of Muhammad (ﷺ) is that of great glory and that is by which Allah would bring out whomsoever He would wish to bring out. He then described the Path (the Bridge) and the passing of the people over it, and said: I am afraid I may not have remembered (other things) but this much is still in my memory that people would come out of the Hell after having gone into it, and he said: They would come out of it as if they were the wood of the ebony tree. He (the narrator said: They would enter a river, one or the rivers of Paradise, and would bathe in it, and then come out as if they were (white like) paper. We then turned back and said: Woe be upon you! How can this old man tell a lie against the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ)? We turned back (from the views of the Khawarij), and by God every one of us abandoned this (band of Khawarij) except one man. A similar statement has been made by Abu Nu'aim.
Sahih Muslim Book 1, Hadith 379
I invited my mother, who was a polytlieist, to Islam. I invited her one day and she said to me something about Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) which I hated. I came to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) weeping and said: Allah's Messenger, I invited my mother to Islam but she did not accept (my invitation). I invited her today but she said to me something which I did not like. (Kindly) supplicate Allah that He may set the mother of Abu Huraira right. Thereupon Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: O Allah, set the mother of Abu Huraira on the right path. I came out quite pleased with the supplication of Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) and when I came near the door it was closed from within. My mother heard the noise of my footsteps and she said: Abu Huraira, just wait. And I heard the noise of falling of water. She took a bath and put on the shirt and quickly covered her head with a headdress and opened the door and then said: Abu Huraira, I bear witness to the fact that there is no god but Allah and Muhammad is His bondsman and His Messenger. He (Abu Huraira) said: I went back to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) and (this time) I was shedding the tears of joy. I said: Allah's Messenger, be happy, for Allah has responded to your supplication and He has set on the right path the mother of Abu Huraira. He (the Holy Prophet) praised Allah, and extolled Him and uttered good words. I said: Allah's Messenger, supplicate to Allah so that He may instill love of mine and that of my mother too in the believing servants and let our hearts be filled with their love, whereupon Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: O Allah, let there be love of these servants of yours, i.e. Abu Huraira and his mother, in the hearts of the believing servants and let their hearts be filled with the love of the believing servants. (Abu Huraira said: This prayer) was so well granted by Allah that no believer was ever born who heard of me and who saw me but did not love me.
Sahih Muslim Book 44, Hadith 226
`Ata' said, "Jabir bin `Abdullah said, 'The Prophet (ﷺ) went out on the Day of `Id-ul-Fitr and offered the
prayer before delivering the Khutba, Ata told me that during the early days of Ibn Az-Zubair, Ibn
`Abbas had sent a message to him telling him that the Adhan for the `Id Prayer was never pronounced
(in the life time of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)) and the Khutba used to be delivered after the prayer. Ata told me
that Ibn `Abbas and Jabir bin `Abdullah, had said, "There was no Adhan for the prayer of `Id-ul-Fitr
and `Id-ul-Aqha." `Ata' said, "I heard Jabir bin `Abdullah saying, 'The Prophet (ﷺ) stood up and started
with the prayer, and after it he delivered the Khutba. When the Prophet (ﷺ) of Allah (p.b.u.h) finished (the
Khutba), he went to the women and preached to them, while he was leaning on Bilal's hand. Bilal was
spreading his garment and the ladies were putting alms in it.' " I said to Ata, "Do you think it
incumbent upon an Imam to go to the women and preach to them after finishing the prayer and
Khutba?" `Ata' said, "No doubt it is incumbent on Imams to do so, and why should they not do so?"
Sahih al-Bukhari Book 13, Hadith 10
We were sitting in the mosque in the company of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ). A person came there and said: Allah's Messenger, I have committed an offence which deserves the imposition of hadd upon me, so impose it upon me. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) kept silent. He repeated it and said: Allah's Messenger, I have committed an offence which deserves the imposition of hadd upon me, so impose it upon me. He (the Holy Prophet) kept silent, and it was at this time that Iqama was pronounced for prayer (and the prayer was observed). And when Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) had concluded the payer that person followed Allah's Messenger (ﷺ). Abu Umama said: I too followed Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) after he had concluded the prayer, so that I should know what answer he would give to that person. That person remained attached to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) and said: Allah's Messenger, I have committed an offence which deserves imposition of hadd upon me, so impose it upon me. Abu Umama reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said to him: Didn't you see that as you got out of the house, you performed ablution perfectly well. He said: Allah's Messenger, of course. I did it. He again said to him: Then you observed prayer along with us. He said: Allah's Messenger, yes, it is so. Thereupon Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said to him: Verily, Allah has exempted you from the imposition of hadd, or he said. From your sin.
Sahih Muslim Book 50, Hadith 53
From Shakr Al-Ghamidi that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "O Allah bless my Ummah in what they do early (in the day)." He said: "Whenever he (ﷺ) would dispatch a military expedition or an army, he would send them in the first part of the day."
And Sakhr, a man who was a merchant, used to send his goods for trade during the beginning of the day, so he became rich, and his wealth increased.
There are narrations on this topic from 'Ali, Buraidah, Ibn Mas'ud, Anas, Ibn 'Umar, Ibn 'Abbas, and Jabir.
The Hadith is Sakhr Al-Ghamidi is a Hasan Hadith. We do not know of a narration that Sakhr Al-Ghamidi reported from the Prophet (ﷺ) other than this Hadith. Sufyan Ath-Thawri reported this Hadith from Shu'bah, from Ya'la bin 'Ata.
Jami` at-Tirmidhi Book 14, Hadith 11
I heard Hisham bin Hakim reciting Surat-al-Furqan during the lifetime of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ), I listened to
his recitation and noticed that he was reciting in a way that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) had not taught me. I was
about to jump over him while He was still in prayer, but I waited patiently and when he finished his
prayer, I put my sheet round his neck (and pulled him) and said, "Who has taught you this Sura which
I have heard you reciting?" Hisham said, "Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) taught it to me." I said, "You are telling a
lie, for he taught it to me in a way different from the way you have recited it!" Then I started leading
(dragged) him to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) and said (to the Prophet), " I have heard this man reciting Surat-al-
Furqan in a way that you have not taught me." The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "(O `Umar) release him! Recite, O
Hisham." Hisham recited in the way I heard him reciting. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "It was revealed like
this." Then Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "Recite, O `Umar!" I recited in the way he had taught me, whereupon
he said, "It was revealed like this," and added, "The Qur'an has been revealed to be recited in seven
different ways, so recite of it whichever is easy for you ." (See Hadith No. 514, Vol. 6)
Sahih al-Bukhari Book 97, Hadith 175
"I had a case of blood flow that was severe and excessive. So I went to the Prophet to inform him and ask him about it. I found him in the house of my sister Zainab bint Jahsh. I said, 'O Messenger of Allah! I suffer from a case of severe and excessive blood flow. So what do you order me to do for it, and does this prevent me from fasting and performing Salat?' He said: 'Tie a cotton rag around yourself and the bIood will go away.' I said, 'It is more than that.' He said: 'Make it tight.' I said, 'It is more than that.' He said: 'Then use a cloth (to bind it).' I said, it is more than that. It flows too much.' So the Prophet said: 'I will order you to do one of two things, which ever of them you do, it will be acceptable for you. You should know which of them you are able to do.' Then he said: 'This is only a blow from Shaitan. Menstruate for six or seven days, which Allah knows, then perform Ghusl. When you see that you have become pure and clean, then perform Salat for twenty-three or twenty-four nights and their days. Perform Salat and fast, and that will be acceptable for you. So do this (if you can) just as (other) women who menstruate and become pure during their periods of menstruation and purity. If (not, and) you are able to delay Zuhr and hasten Asr then perform Ghusl when you have become pure, and pray Zuhr and Asr together. Then delay Maghrib and hasten Isha, then perform Ghusl and combine the two prayers. So do this (if you are able). Then perform Ghusl with the dawn and pray. Do this, and fast if you are able to do so.' Then Allah's Messenger said: 'That is what is preferable to me of the two.'"
Jami` at-Tirmidhi Book 1, Hadith 128
There were good relations and brotherhood between this tribe of Jurm and the Ash`ariyyin. Once,
while we were sitting with Abu Musa Al-Ash`ari, there was brought to him a meal which contained
chicken meat, and there was sitting beside him, a man from the tribe of Bani Taimul-lah who looked
like one of the Mawali. Abu Musa invited the man to eat but the man said, "I have seen chicken eating
some dirty things, and I have taken an oath not to eat chicken." Abu Musa said to him, "Come along,
let me tell you something in this regard. Once I went to the Prophet (ﷺ) with a few men from Ash`ariyyin
and we asked him for mounts. The Prophet (ﷺ) said, By Allah, I will not mount you on anything; besides I
do not have anything to mount you on.' Then a few camels from the war booty were brought to the
Prophet, and he asked about us, saying, 'Where are the group of Ash`ariyyin?' So he ordered for five
fat camels to be given to us and then we set out. We said, 'What have we done? Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) took
an oath that he would not give us anything to ride and that he had nothing for us to ride, yet he
provided us with mounts. We made Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) forget his oath! By Allah, we will never be
successful.' So we returned to him and reminded him of his oath. He said, 'I have not provided you
with the mount, but Allah has done so. By Allah, I may take an oath to do something, but on finding
something else which is better, I do that which is better and make the expiation for my oath.' "
Sahih al-Bukhari Book 97, Hadith 180
Yahya related to me from Malik, from Abu'n-Nadr, the mawla of
'Umar ibn 'Ubaydullah at-Taymi, from Nafi, the mawla of Abu Qatada al-
Ansari, that Abu Qatada was once with the Messenger of Allah, may
Allah bless him and grant him peace. When they got to one of the roads
to Makka he fell behind with some companions of his who were muhrim,
while he was not. Then he saw a wild ass, so he got on his mount and
asked his companions to give him his whip but they refused. Then he
asked them for his spear and they refused to give it to him. So he
took hold of it and attacked the ass and killed it. Some of the
companions of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant
him peace, ate from it, and others refused. When they had caught up
with the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace,
they asked him about it and he said, "It is food that Allah has fed
you with."
Muwatta Malik Book 20, Hadith 78
While I was standing in the row on the day (of the battle) of Badr, I looked to my right and my left
and saw two young Ansari boys, and I wished I had been stronger than they. One of them called my
attention saying, "O Uncle! Do you know Abu Jahl?" I said, "Yes, What do you want from him, O my
nephew?" He said, "I have been informed that he abuses Allah's Messenger (ﷺ). By Him in Whose Hands my
life is, if I should see him, then my body will not leave his body till either of us meet his fate." I was
astonished at that talk. Then the other boy called my attention saying the same as the other had said.
After a while I saw Abu Jahl walking amongst the people. I said (to the boys), "Look! This is the man
you asked me about." So, both of them attacked him with their swords and struck him to death and
returned to Allah'S Apostle to inform him of that. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) asked, "Which of you has killed
him?" Each of them said, "I Have killed him." Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) asked, "Have you cleaned your
swords?" They said, "No. " He then looked at their swords and said, "No doubt, you both have killed
him and the spoils of the deceased will be given to Mu`adh bin `Amr bin Al-Jamuh." The two boys
were Mu`adh bin 'Afra and Mu`adh bin `Amr bin Al-Jamuh.
Sahih al-Bukhari Book 57, Hadith 49
(the wife of the Prophet) That she came to visit Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) while he was in I`tikaf (i.e. seclusion
in the Mosque during the last ten days of Ramadan). When she got up to return, Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) got up
with her and accompanied her, and when he reached near the gate of the Mosque close to the door (of
the house) of Um Salama, the wife of the Prophet, two Ansari men passed by them and greeted Allah's
Apostle and then went away. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) addressed them saying, "Don't hurry! (She is my wife),"
They said, "Glorified be Allah! O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) (You are far away from any suspicion)," and his
saying was hard on them. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "Satan circulates in the mind of a person as blood does
(in his body). I was afraid that Satan might put some (evil) thoughts in your minds."
Sahih al-Bukhari Book 57, Hadith 10
Messenger of Allah, the camels died and the passages were blocked; so supplicate Allah to send down rain upon us. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) raised his hands and then said: (O Allah, send down rain upon us; O Allah, send dowp rain upon us; O Allah, send down rain upon us. Anas said: By Allah, we did not see any cloud or any patch of it, and there was neither any house or building standing between us and the (hillock) Sal'a. There appeared a cloud in the shape of a shield from behind it, and as it (came high) in the sky it spread and then there was a downpour of rain. By Allah, we did not see the sun throughout the week. Then (that very man) came on the coming Friday through the same door when the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was standing and delivering the sermon. He stood in front of him and said: Messenger of Allah, our animals died and the passages blocked. Supplicate Allah to stop the rain for us. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) again raised his hands and said: O Allah, let it (rain) fall in our suburbs and not on us, O Allah (send it down) on the hillocks and small mountains and the river-beds and at places where trees grow. The rain stopped, and as we stepped out we were walking in sun- shine. He (the narrator) said to Sharik: I asked Anas b. Malik if he was the same man. He said: I do not know.
