“When a calamity strikes one of you, then let him say: ‘Indeed, to Allah we belong and to Him we shall return. O Allah, I seek reward with You for my affliction, so reward me for it, and replace it for me with something better (Innā lillāhi wa innā ilaihi rāji`ūn, Allāhumma `indaka aḥtasibu muṣībatī fa’jurnī fīhā wa abdilnī minhā khair).’” When the time of death was near Abu Salamah, he said: ‘O Allah, replace me for my wife, with better than me.” So when he died, Umm Salamah said: “Indeed, to Allah we belong and to Him we shall return. I seek reward with Allah for my affliction, so reward me for it.”
Jami` at-Tirmidhi Book 48, Hadith 142
The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "The Imam is (appointed) to be followed. So do not differ from him, bow when he
bows, and say, "Rabbana-lakal hamd" if he says "Sami`a l-lahu liman hamidah"; and if he prostrates,
prostrate (after him), and if he prays sitting, pray sitting all together, and straighten the rows for the
prayer, as the straightening of the rows is amongst those things which make your prayer a correct and
perfect one. (See Hadith No. 657).
Sahih al-Bukhari Book 10, Hadith 116
"I heard 'Uthman, may Allah be pleased with him, say: 'Avoid Khamr for it is the mother of all evils. There was a man among those who came before you who was a devoted worshipper. An immoral woman fell in love with him. She sent her slave girl to him, saying: We are calling you to bear witness. So he set out with her slave girl, and every time he entered a door, she locked it behind him, until he reached a beautiful woman who has with her a boy and a vessel of wine. She said: 'By Allah, I did not call you to bear witness, rather I called you to have intercourse with me, or to drink a cup of this wine, or to kill this boy.' He said: 'Pour me a cup of this wine.' So she poured him a cup. He said: 'Give me more.' And soon he had intercourse with her and killed the boy. So avoid Khamr, for by Allah faith and addiction to Khamr cannot coexist but, one of them will soon expel the other."
Sunan an-Nasa'i Book 51, Hadith 128
While the Prophet (ﷺ) was distributing (something, `Abdullah bin Dhil Khawaisira at-Tamimi came and
said, "Be just, O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)!" The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Woe to you ! Who would be just if I were not?"
`Umar bin Al-Khattab said, "Allow me to cut off his neck ! " The Prophet (ﷺ) said, " Leave him, for he
has companions, and if you compare your prayers with their prayers and your fasting with theirs, you
will look down upon your prayers and fasting, in comparison to theirs. Yet they will go out of the
religion as an arrow darts through the game's body in which case, if the Qudhadh of the arrow is
examined, nothing will be found on it, and when its Nasl is examined, nothing will be found on it; and
then its Nadiyi is examined, nothing will be found on it. The arrow has been too fast to be smeared by
dung and blood. The sign by which these people will be recognized will be a man whose one hand (or
breast) will be like the breast of a woman (or like a moving piece of flesh). These people will appear
when there will be differences among the people (Muslims)." Abu Sa`id added: I testify that I heard
this from the Prophet (ﷺ) and also testify that `Ali killed those people while I was with him. The man with
the description given by the Prophet (ﷺ) was brought to `Ali. The following Verses were revealed in
connection with that very person (i.e., `Abdullah bin Dhil-Khawaisira at-Tarnimi): 'And among them
are men who accuse you (O Muhammad) in the matter of (the distribution of) the alms.' (9.58)
Sahih al-Bukhari Book 88, Hadith 15
Az-Zubair had three scars
caused by the sword, one of which was over his shoulder and I used to
insert my fingers in it. He received two of those wounds on the day of
Badr and one on the day of Al-Yarmuk. When 'Abdullah bin Zubair was
killed, 'Abdul-Malik bin Marwan said to me, "O 'Urwa, do you recognize
the sword of Az-Zubair?" I said, "Yes." He said, "What marks does it
have?" I replied, "It has a dent in its sharp edge which was caused in
it on the day of Badr." 'Abdul- Malik said, "You are right! (i.e.
their swords) have dents because of clashing with the regiments of the
enemies Then 'Abdul-Malik returned that sword to me (i.e. Urwa).
(Hisham, 'Urwa's son said, "We estimated the price of the sword as
three-thousand (Dinars) and after that it was taken by one of us (i.e.
the inheritors) and I wish I could have had it.")
