The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Amongst the people preceding your age, there was a man whom Allah had given a
lot of money. While he was in his death-bed, he called his sons and said, 'What type of father have I
been to you? They replied, 'You have been a good father.' He said, 'I have never done a single good
deed; so when I die, burn me, crush my body, and scatter the resulting ashes on a windy day.' His sons
did accordingly, but Allah gathered his particles and asked (him), 'What made you do so?' He replied,
"Fear of you.' So Allah bestowed His Mercy upon him. (forgave him).
Sahih al-Bukhari Book 60, Hadith 145
An-Nu`man bin Abi `Aiyash, on hearing me, said. "Did
you hear this from Sahl?" I said, "Yes." He said, " I bear witness that I heard Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri
saying the same, adding that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: 'I will say: They are of me (i.e. my followers). It will be
said, 'You do not know what they innovated (new things) in the religion after you left'. I will say, 'Far
removed, far removed (from mercy), those who changed (their religion) after me."
Sahih al-Bukhari Book 81, Hadith 172
Yahya related to me from Malik, from Ibn Shihab, from Ubaydullah
ibn Abdullah ibn Utba ibn Masud, from Abdullah ibn Abbas, that as-Sab
ibn Jaththama al-Laythi once gave a wild ass to the Messenger of
Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, while he was at al-
Abwa, or Waddan, and the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and
grant him peace, gave it back to him. However, when the Messenger of
Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, saw the expression on
the man's face he said, "We only gave it back to you because we are in
ihram."
Muwatta Malik Book 20, Hadith 85
The Prophet of Allah said: "Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min al-'ajzi, wal-kasali, wal-bukhli, wal-jubni, wal-harami, wa 'adhabil-qabri, wa fitnatil-mahya wal-mamat (O Allah, I seek refuge in You from incapacity, laziness, miserliness, cowardice, old age, the torment of the grave and the trials of life and death.)"
Sunan an-Nasa'i Book 50, Hadith 32
as follows in Hadith 297.
Narrated Abu Huraira:
We were in the company of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) in a Ghazwa, and he remarked about a man who claimed
to be a Muslim, saying, "This (man) is from the people of the (Hell) Fire." When the battle started, the
man fought violently till he got wounded. Somebody said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! The man whom you
described as being from the people of the (Hell) Fire fought violently today and died." The Prophet (ﷺ)
said, "He will go to the (Hell) Fire." Some people were on the point of doubting (the truth of what the
Prophet had said) while they were in this state, suddenly someone said that he was still alive but
severely wounded. When night fell, he lost patience and committed suicide. The Prophet (ﷺ) was
informed of that, and he said, "Allah is Greater! I testify that I am Allah's Slave and His Apostle."
Then he ordered Bilal to announce amongst the people: 'None will enter Paradise but a Muslim, and
Allah may support this religion (i.e. Islam) even with a disobedient man.'
