Quran 48 : 15

Those who stayed behind say when you leave to acquire booty: allow us to follow you. They want to change the word of Allah. Say: you will not follow us; this is what Allah said before. Then they will say: you only envy us - but they hardly understand.

Those who are left behind will say when you set forth to capture booty, "Allow us to follow you." They fain would change the verdict of Allah. Say, "By no means shall you follow us; thus did Allah say before." But they will say, "

Those who stayed behind, when you march to take the spoils of war: “Allow us to follow you.” They want to change Allah’s decree. Say, “You will not follow us. Allah has already decided.” Then they will say, “You are jealous of us.” They understand only a little.

Those who were left behind shall say when you set out towards spoils to take it, 'Let us follow you.' They wish to change God's words. Say, 'You shall not follow us; thus did God say before.' Then they will say, 'Nay, you envy us.' Nay, they do not understand except a little.

Those who lagged behind will say, when you set forth to acquire gains: Allow us to follow you. They desire to change the word of Allah. Say: You shall not follow us. Thus did Allah say before. But they will say: Nay, you are jealous of us. Nay, they understand not but a little

When you set out to collect the gains, those who had lagged said, “Allow us to accompany you.” They wish to change God’s words. Say, “You won’t accompany us; God has already decreed this.” Then they will say, “You are jealous of us.” But in reality, they understand very little.

Those who were left behind shall say when ye have gone forth to spoils that ye may take, 'Let us follow you;' they wish to change God's words. Say, 'Ye shall by no means follow us; thus did God say before!' They will say, 'Nay! but ye envy us!' Nay! they did not understand save a little

When you set forth to take them to the spoils (of war), those who stayed behind will say: “Allow us to follow you.” They want to change Allah’s Words. Say: “You shall not follow us. Allah has said this before.” They will say: “Nay, you envy us.” But they don’t understand except a little.

As soon as you are about to depart on a war that promises gains, those who [previously] stayed behind will say, "Allow us to go with you". They wish to alter the Words of God. Say: "You may not go with us: God has said so before." They will say, "You envy us". How little they understand.

Those who stayed behind will say when you set out to capture spoils, “Let us follow you.” They desire to change the Word of God. Say, “You will not follow us; thus has God said before.” Then they will say, “Nay, but you are jealous of us.” Nay, but they have not understood, save a little

When you set forth to take the spoils, those Bedouins who lagged behind will say: 'Let us follow you. ' They hope to change the Words of Allah. Say: 'Youshall not follow us. Allah has said so before. ' They will reply: 'No, you are envious of us. ' Rather, they have only understood a little

The ones who held back will say, once you have set out to take some prizes: "Allow us to follow you!" They want to change Allah (God)'s word. SAY: "You will never follow us! Allah (God) has already told you so." Next they will say: "Rather you envy us." Instead they only understand a little.

The ones who are left behind will say when you set out to take the gains: Let us follow you. They want to substitute for the assertion of God. Say: You will not follow us. Thus, God said before; then, they will say: Nay! You are jealous of us. Nay! They had not been understanding, but a little.

Those who lagged behind will say when you depart to collect the gains, 'Let us follow you.' They want to change the Word of God. Say, 'You will not follow us; God has said so before.' Then they will say, 'But you are jealous of us.' In fact, they understand only a little

When you [believers] set off to gather the spoils, those that stayed behind will say, Let us come with you. They want to change God's word, but tell them, You shall not follow us. God has declared this beforehand. Then they will say, You are jealous of us. But how little they understand

Those who lagged behind will say, when you venture out to collect the spoils: "Let us follow you!" They want to change the words of God. Say: "You will not follow us; this is what God has decreed beforehand." They will then say: "No, you are envious of us." Alas, they rarely understood anything.

Those who were left behind would say, “When you set out towards the booties to seize them, let us follow you.” They want to change the word of Allah. Say, “You will never follow us.” Thus has Allah said before but they will say, “You are only begrudging us.” Nay they discern not except a little.

Those who were left behind will say, when ye go forth to take the spoil, suffer us to follow you. They seek to change the word of God. Say, ye shall by no means follow us: Thus hath God said heretofore. They will reply, nay; ye envy us a share of the booty. But they are men of small understanding

Those who remained behind will say if you launch toward a war booty to take it, "Forsake us to follow you." They want to alter Allah’s Speech. Say, "Never will you follow us. Thus, Allah said before." So, they will say, "Nay, but you envy us." Nay, but they were not understanding except a little.

Those who lagged behind will say when you are free to march and take spoils of war, “Permit us to follow you.” They wish to change God's decree. Say, “You cannot follow us, God has already declared this beforehand.” Then they will say, “No, you are jealous of us.” No, but little do they understand

The Bedouins who were left behind will say, when you set forth after spoils, to take them, 'Let us follow you,' desiring to change God's words. Say: 'You shall not follow us; so God said before.' Then they will say, 'Nay, but you' are jealous of us.' Nay, but they have not understood except a little

Those who stayed behind will say, “When you go somewhere next time which promises rich booty, do let us follow you.” They want to change Allah’s words. Say: “You will never follow us; that is what Allah has told beforehand.” They will say, “You are jealous of us.” They understand very little.

When you proceed to take the booty (of war), those who were left behind will say, “Allow us to follow you.” They intend to change the word of Allah, say, “You will never follow us, thus has Allah said before.” Then they will say, “No, you are jealous of us.” No, they do not understand except a little.

When you set out to take the spoils (of war), those who stayed behind are going to say: “Let us follow you.” They want to change God’s word. Say: “You never follow us; this is what God has said earlier.” Then they are going to say: “No, but you are jealous of us.” No, but they only understand a little.

Those who lagged behind will presently, When ye march forth to take spoils, leave us, we shall follow say you. They intend to change the word of Allah. Say thou: ye shall by no means follow us; thus hath Allah said afore. Then they will say: Aye! ye envy us. Aye! little it is they are wont to understand

Now those who lagged behind will say, 'when you go to take the spoils, let us follow you. They desire to change the words of Allah'. Say you, 'you shall by no means follow us thus have Allah said before. Then now they will say, 'nay! But you are jealous of us. Not so rather, they understood not but a little.

Those who were left behind will say, when ye set forth to capture booty: Let us go with you. They fain would change the verdict of Allah. Say (unto them, O Muhammad): Ye shall not go with us. Thus hath Allah said beforehand. Then they will say: Ye are envious of us. Nay, but they understand not, save a little

Those that stayed behind when you set forth to take the spoils will say: ‘Let us come with you.‘ They seek to change the Word of God. Say: ‘You shall not come with us. So God has said beforehand.‘ They will say: ‘You are surely jealous of us.‘ But how little they understand

Those who lagged behind will say, when you set forth to take the spoils, "Allow us to follow you," They want to change Allahs Words. Say: "You shall not follow us; thus Allah has said beforehand." Then they will say: "Nay, you envy us." Nay, but they understand not except a little

The ones who held back will say, once you have set out to take some prizes: "Allow us to follow you!" They want to change God´s word. SAY: "You will never follow us! God has already told you so." Next they will say: "Rather you envy us." Instead they only understand a little.

Will say those who remained behind when you set forth towards (the) spoils of war to take it Allow us (to) follow you They wish to change (the) Words (of) Allah Say Never will you follow us Thus Allah said Allah said before before Then they will say Nay you envy us Nay they were not understanding except a little

Those who are left behind will say when you set forth for the gaining of acquisitions: Allow us (that) we may follow you. They desire to change the world of Allah. Say: By no means shall you follow us; thus did Allah say before. But they will say: Nay! you are jealous of us. Nay! they do not understand but a little

Those who remained behind will say when you go to collect the spoils of war, “Let us come with you.” They want to change the words of Allah. Say, “You can never follow us; for this is what Allah said (decreed) before”... Then they will say, “No, you envy us”... On the contrary, they are people devoid of understanding!

They who took not the field with you will say, when ye go forth to the spoil to take it, "Let us follow you." Fain would they change the word of God. SAY: Ye shall by no means follow us: thus hath God said already. They will say, "Nay, ye are jealous of us." Nay! they are men of little understanding

When you go out to get the booty, those who remained behind will say, ´Allow us to follow you,´ desiring to alter Allah´s words. Say: ´You may not follow us. That is what Allah said before.´ They will say, ´It is only because you envy us.´ No indeed! How little they have understood!

Those who contrived to be left behind, will say, when you go forth to the spoils to take them, `Let us follow you.' They seek to change the decree of ALLAH. Say, `You shall not follow us. Thus has ALLAH said beforehand.' Then they will say, `Nay, but you envy us.' That is not so; in fact they understand not except a little

Those who were left to stay behind will say, when you set out to capture booty: ‘Let us follow you.’ They desire to change the word of Allah. Say, ‘You shall never follow us! Thus has Allah said beforehand.’ Then they will say, ‘You are envious of us.’ Rather they do not understand but a little

Those who lagged behind will say: "When you set forth to collect the spoils, let us follow you". They desire to change the Words of Allâh. Say: "You will not follow us. This is what Allâh had said beforehand". Then they will say: "Nay, but you are just envious of us". The truth is that they lack spiritual wisdom and understanding.

Those who had stayed behind will say: "When you depart for taking the spoils, allow us to follow you." They wish to change the word of God. Tell them: "You will not follow us. That is what God has already said before." They will say: "You are envious of our gain." The fact is they understand but little

Those who remained behind will say when you set out toward the war booty to take it, "Let us follow you." They wish to change the words of Allah . Say, "Never will you follow us. Thus did Allah say before." So they will say, "Rather, you envy us." But [in fact] they were not understanding except a little

Those who remained behind will say, when you will proceed to the spoils (of war) to receive them, .Let us follow you. They wish to change the words of Allah. Say, .You shall not follow us. Allah had said like this beforehand. Then they will say, .No, but you are jealous of us. On the contrary, they do not understand (the reality) but a little

Those who had stayed behind will now say, “When you go to receive the war booty, let us also go with you”; they wish to change the Words of Allah; say “You shall never come with us - this is already decreed by Allah”; so they will now say, “But rather you envy us”; in fact they never understood except a little

When you [believers] set off to gather spoils of war, those that stayed behind [during war] will say, "Let us follow you." They want to change Allah's word, but tell them, "You shall not follow us. Allah has ordained so about you in advance." Then they will say, "You are jealous of us." But little do they understand

When you press forth for the spoils, those who were left behind will say: "Let us accompany you." They want to change the command of Allah. Say to them (in clear words): "You shall not accompany us. Thus has Allah already said." Then they will say: "Nay; but you are jealous of us." The truth is that they understand little

The sedentary who stay behind will say, when you are expected to collect spoils of war, "Let us follow you to share in this!" They thus wish to alter GOD's words. Say, "You will not follow us. This is GOD's decision." They will then say, "You must be envious of us (for staying behind)." Indeed, they rarely understood anything.

Those who lagged behind (will say), when ye (are free to) march and take booty (in war): "Permit us to follow you." They wish to change Allah's decree: Say: "Not thus will ye follow us: Allah has already declared (this) beforehand": then they will say, "But ye are jealous of us." Nay, but little do they understand (such things)

Those who lagged behind will say, when you (are free to) march and take the spoils (in war): "Permit us to follow you." They wish to change Allah’s Word: Say: "You will not follow us like that: Allah has already declared (this) earlier:" Then they will say: "But you envy (are jealous of) us." No, but little do they understand

Those who remained behind will say: "When you set forth to collect the spoils, let us follow you." They desire to change the Words of Allâh. Say: "You will not follow us. This is what Allâh had said beforehand." Then they will say: "Nay, you are just envious of us." Nay, They were incapable of understanding and recognizing the truth from falsehood except a little.

Those who stayed behind will say, when you ˹believers˺ set out to take the spoils of war, “Let us accompany you.” They wish to change Allah’s promise. Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “You will not accompany us. This is what Allah has said before.” They will then say, “In fact, you are driven by jealousy against us!” The truth is: they can hardly comprehend.

The remaining behind, will say when/if you set out to (for) winnings/spoils of war to take/receive it: "Leave us, we follow you." They want/intend that (E) they exchange/replace God's speech , say: "You will never/not follow us, as/like that God said from before." So they will say: "But you envy us ."But they were not understanding except little

When you will set out to collect the spoils (of Khaybar), those who remained behind (in the march towards al-Hudaybiya) will say: ‘Allow us also to follow you.’ They seek to alter Allah’s Words. Say: ‘You shall by no means follow us. Allah said the same beforehand.’ So now they will say: ‘In fact, you are jealous of us.’ The truth is that they understand (the truth) but little

When you [believers] set off for somewhere that promises war gains, those who [previously] stayed behind will say, ‘Let us come with you.’ They want to change God’s words, but tell them [Prophet], ‘You may not come with us: God has said this before.’ They will reply, ‘You begrudge us out of jealousy.’ How little they understand

The laggardly Bedouins will say, "When you leave to collect the spoils, let us follow you." They want to alter the command of God (that only the participating believers are entitled to such benefit). Tell them, "You can never follow us for such a purpose. God has said before and He will say again (what type of people you are). In fact, you are jealous of us." The truth is that they understand very little

The ones who were left behind will soon say, when you go off after booty (The Arabic word is plural) to take it, "Give us leave to follow you closely, " willing to exchange the Speech of Allah (for their own lies). Say, "You will never closely follow us; even thus Allah said earlier." Then they will soon say, "No indeed, (but) you envy us." No indeed, (but) they have not comprehended except a little

Those who lagged behind will (no doubt) say, "Let us be with you when you leave for the loot (and the spoils of war)." They (actually) intend to modify the word (and the verdict) of Allah! Tell them, "You shall not accompany us now. Allah has already said so, earlier." Then, they would say, "In fact, you are discriminating against us." On the contrary, they are the ones who hardly understand anything

When you start easier campaigns in the future, which promises to be profitable [which happened only three months later in the occasion of Khaibar’s campaign], the same people who left you alone will ask you to let them go with you! Tell them plainly: “God has already decreed that you should not follow us.” In reply they will say: “You are jealous of us!” [What does one thing have to do with the other?] They simply do not get it

When you (O believers) set forth for (the campaign during which they think that you are sure) to take gains of war, those who stayed behind (aforetime) will say: "Let us go with you." They desire to alter God’s decree. Say (to them): "You will by no means come with us. That (decision) regarding you is what God declared before." Then they will say: "Rather, you are jealous of us." But the fact is that they are lacking in discernment and understanding, except a very little

When you are free to set out to take the spoils (of the war of Khaibar), those who (contrived to be) left behind (from joining you at Hudaibiyah) will say, `Permit us to follow you.' They would like to change the word of Allah (and His decree). Say, `You shall not follow us. This is what Allah has declared beforehand.' They will thereupon say, `(There is no such foreword,) you are infact jealous of us.' (What they say is in fact wrong.) Little do they understand (that this is the punishment for their not being present at Hudaibiyah)

Soon they who lagged behind (and did not volunteer for Qital) will say when you attended to the spoils (of war) that you may pick it up (as your share what you are allotted): “Allow us (so that) we may follow you.” They want that they may change (the wordings in) Kalamallah (‘Statement of Allah’.). Say: “You shall never follow us; thus Allah has said about you beforehand.” Then soon, they will utter: “Nay, you envy us.” Nay, they had not been understanding, except very little

As soon as you [O believers] are about to set forth on a war that promises booty, those who stayed behind [aforetime] will surely say, “Allow us to go with you” - [thus showing that] they would like to alter the Word of God. Say: “By no means shall you go with us: God has declared aforetime [to whom all spoils shall belong].” Thereupon they will [surely] answer, “Nay, but you begrudge us [our share of booty]!” Nay, they can grasp but so little of the truth

Those who had stayed behind will say - if you go forth to a battle that holds promise of a booty, "Allow us to follow you." They seek to change the Word of Allah. Say, "You shall by no means go with us. This is what Allah has decreed already." Then they will say, "You are envious of us." Nay, but very little it is that they understand (of selfless service). (The battle is no longer to be seen as a means of winning booty, it is allowed only for liberty and self-defense. That is the Word of Allah (8:1), (2:167), (2:193), (60:8-9)
