Quran 21 : 35

And We did not assign immortality to any man before you. Then if you die will they be immortal?

Every soul will taste death, and We test them with bad and good as a trial and they return to Us.

And We did not set up immortality for a humankind before you. So, if you die, are they the immortals?

Every soul shall taste death. We will test you all with evil and good. And to Us shall you be recalled

Every living being is bound to taste death. We test you through the evil and good aspects of things by way of trial. To Us must you return. (Life and death afford humans the opportunity to do good deeds and achieve eternal rewards (67:2)

Every soul (person) is bound to taste death, and We try you through the bad and the good things (of life) by way of testing (so that your real character and rank may reveal itself). In fact, you are on the way to return to Us, (to finally be brought to Our Presence)
