Quran 12 : 84

And he turned away and said: 'Alas for Joseph! ' His eyes turned white with the grief he repressed within him

And he turned away from them, crying, Alas for Joseph! His eyes went white with grief, and he was filled with sorrow

He turned away from them, lamenting, “Alas, poor Joseph!” And his eyes turned white out of the grief he suppressed.

And he turned away from them and said, 'O my lament for Joseph! And his eyes grew white with grief, for he repressed.

And he turned away from them and said: oh my grief over Yusuf (Joseph), and his eyes turned white from suppressed worry.

And he turned away from them and said, “O my sorrow for Yusuf,” and his eyes became white due to grief but he suppressed.

He turned away from them and said, "Alas for Joseph," and his eyes clouded over with grief, and he was filled with sorrow.

He turned away from them saying, "Woe is me for ‘Joseph’!' His eyes became white because of sorrow that he was suppressing.

He turned away from them and said, “So great is my grief for Joseph!” His eyes became dim with sorrow, and he became solemn.

He turned away from them and cried: "Alas for Joseph!" And his eyes turned white with grief which he bore in silence

Andhe turned away from them and said: "Oh, my sorrow over Joseph." And his eyes turned white from sadness, and he became blind.

And he turned away from them and said, 'O my lament for Joseph!' and his eyes grew white with grief, for he repressed (his woe)

Then he turned away from them, lamenting, “Oh, my grief for Joseph!” His eyes turned white from grief, and he became depressed.

and he turned away from them, saying, ‘Alas for Joseph!’ His eyes went white with grief and he was filled with sorrow

He turned away from them and said: “Alas for Joseph!” His sight was whitened (lost) because of the sorrow that he was suppressing.

He turned away from them and said, “How great is my sorrow about Joseph” and his eyes turned blank from grief which he suppressed.

And he turned away from them, and said, “O my sorrow upon Joseph.” And his eyes whitened from the grieve, so he was a suppressor.

And he turned away from them and said Alas, my grief over Yusuf And became white his eyes from the grief and he (was) a suppressor

And he turned away from them and said: Alas, my grief for Joseph! And his eyes were whitened with the sorrow that he was suppressing

He walked away from them saying: ‘Ah! Woe betide me for Joseph!' His eyes became white because of the sorrow that he was suppressing.

And he turned away from them and said: O my bitterness for Joseph! And his eyes brightened because of the sorrow that was choking him.

He turned away from them, saying, "I am grieving over Joseph." His eyes turned white from grieving so much; he was truly sad.

And he turned away from them, and said: O my grief for Yusuf! and his eyes whitened with grief, while he was filled with suppressed sorrow

And he turned away from them and said, “How great is my grief for Joseph.” And his eyes became white with sorrow, and he fell into silence

And he turned away from them and said, "Alas great is my grief for Joseph!" and his eyes grew white with the sorrow he repressed

He turned away from them and said: "How upset I feel over Joseph!" Both his eyes clouded over from sadness, so he choked back his grief.

But he turned away from them and said: "O woe is me for Joseph!"-and his eyes became dim from the grief with which he was filled

He turned away from them and said, "Alas! Poor Yusuf!" He tried to hide his feelings, but his eyes turned white with grief!"

And he turned away from them, crying: ‘Alas for Joseph!‘ His eyes went white with grief, and he was oppressed with silent sorrow

And he turned away from them, and said, 'Ah, woe is me for Joseph!' And his eyes turned white because of the sorrow that he choked within him

Then he turned away from them, and said, 'O my bitterness for Joseph.' And his eyes turned white from sorrow, and he became depressed

And he turned from them and said, oh how am I grieved for Joseph! And his eyes became white with mourning, he being oppressed with deep sorrow

He turned himself away from them and said, ´What anguish is my sorrow for Yusuf!´ And then his eyes turned white from hidden grief.

And he turned away from them and said, ‘Alas for Joseph!’ His eyes had turned white with grief, and he choked with suppressed agony

He turned away from them and said, .How sad I am about Yusuf!. and his eyes turned white with sorrow and he was suppressing (his anger and grief)

And, turning away from them, he silently cried, "Alas for Joseph!" And his eyes turned white with grief, and he did control his emotions

He turned away from them and said: "How upset I feel over Joseph!" Both his eyes clouded over from sadness, so he choked back his grief.

And he turned away from them, and said: O my sorrow for Yusuf! and his eyes became white on account of the grief, and he was a repressor (of grief)

And he turned away from them and said, “Oh, how great is my grief for Joseph!” His eyes had turned white with grief, and he was choked with anguish

And he turned away his face from him and said, 'Ah, woe on the separation of Yusuf, and his eyes were whitened with grief and he suppressed his anger

And he turned away from them and said, "Oh! how I am grieved for Joseph!" and his eyes became white with grief, for he bore a silent sorrow

And he turned away from them, and said: O my sorrow for Joseph! And his eyes were filled (with tears) on account of the grief, then he repressed (grief)

And he turned away from them, and he said: "Oh my sorrow, on Joseph," and his two eyes whitened, from the sadness/grief, and he is suppressed

And he turned away from them and said: "Alas, my grief for Yoosuf (Joseph)!" And he lost his sight because of the sorrow that he was suppressing

And he turned away from them and said, `O my grief for Joseph ! ' And his eyes were filled with tears because of the grief, and he was suppressing his sorrow

And he turned away from them and said, "Oh, my sorrow over Joseph," and his eyes became white from grief, for he was [of that] a suppressor

And he turned away from them, and said: "How great is my grief for Joseph!" And his eyes became white with sorrow, and he fell into silent melancholy

(Jacob) turned away from them saying, "Alas, Joseph is lost!" He wept continuously in his grief until, in suppressing his anger, his eyes turned white

And he turned away from them and said, `O my grief for Joseph!' and his eyes were drowned (with tears) for the pangs of grief and he was suppressing (his sorrow)

And he turned away from them and said, "Alas - the separation from Yusuf!" and his eyes turned white with sorrow, he therefore kept suppressing his anger

Jacob then turned away from them saying: “Now let me mourn for my Joseph.” His eyes turned white from grieving so much and he went into a deep depression

Then he turned his back to them, and said: "O my grief for Joseph!" His eyes whitened with grief and he was choked up with sorrow trying to suppress his grief

He turned away from them and with his eyes that became white from grief he said, “Ah.. How you have done wrong by Joseph!”... He was now one trying to digest his sorrow.

And he turned away from them and said: “I am sorry about Joseph.” And his eyes turned white (and blind) from the sorrow, and he was a suppressor (of his sorrow and anger).

And he turned away from them and said, "O, how sorrowful am I for Yusuf!" (Joseph) And his eyes whitened with grief that he was constantly repressed (with sorrow)

Yaqub turned away from them, saying, “Oh, how I grieve for Yusuf!” His eyes clouded over, turning white, such was his sadness; yet he controlled his emotions.

And he turned away from them, and said: "How great is my sadness for Yusuf (Joseph)!" And his eyes became white with sorrow, and he lost his sight overcome by unspoken sorrow

Ya‘qub (Jacob) then turned his face away from them and said: ‘Alas! (My dear son) Yusuf (Joseph’s unbearable separation)!’ And his eyes had gone white with grief. And he was suppressing his sorrow

He turned away from them and said: "Alas, my grief for Joseph!" And his eyes turned white because of the grief. And he was restraining (any resentment toward his other sons, never displaying it to them)

Then Jacob turned away from them saying, "Alas, my grief for Joseph!" His eyes glistened with tears but he suppressed his grief." (Jacob worried more about Joseph since he had no news of him yet. Many exponents at this point have ventured into strange guesswork. They report that Prophet Jacob became blind with grief and cried incessantly for eighty years grieving for Joseph! The Bible relates that Jacob lived to be 147 years old. Even so, it is not befitting of a Prophet of God, or even an ordinary person, to turn blind with grief and weep incessantly for 80 years. The whiteness of his eyes in this verse clearly refers to his eyes glistening with tears momentarily. And then he controlled his grief)

And (Yaqub) turned away from them and said: “Ya-asafa-ala-Yusuf [Alas, (my) grief for Yusuf’! (Please note that the word ‘Yusuf’ itself gives such a meaning in classical Arabic. The proper names of most of the Prophets are such that they point to some historical/personal incidents related to them. This we appreciate when the spelling and pronunciation as given in Al-Kitâb are put to this test. The pronunciation and spellings as given in ‘Old Testament’ and ‘New Testament’ have completely damaged this interesting aspect of knowledge)].
