The people used to go out (from Mecca after Hajj) by all sides. The Prophet (ﷺ) said: No one should leave (Mecca) until he performs the last circumambulation of the House (the Ka'bah).

Sunan Abi Dawud Book 11, Hadith 281 Next Hadith → The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) mentioned about Safiyyah, daughter of Huyayy. He was told that she had menstruated. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: She may probably detain us. They (the people) said: She has performed the obligatory circumambulation (Tawaf al-Ziyarah). He said: If so, there is no need (of staying any longer).
