"We were with the Messenger of Allah said: 'Do not kill him, for I have been commanded to fight the people until they say La ilaha illallah, and if they say it, their blood and their wealth are safe from me, except for a right that is due, and their reckoning will be with Allah.'"

Sunan an-Nasa'i Book 37, Hadith 13 Next Hadith → A man said to him: "The Messenger of Allah came to us while we were in a tent inside the Masjid of Al-Al-Madinah, and he said to us: 'It has been revealed to me that I should fight the people until they say La ilaha illallah.'" A similar narration.
