that Malik bin Aus said, "I was in need of change for one-hundred Dinars. Talha bin 'Ubaidullah
called me and we discussed the matter, and he agreed to change (my Dinars). He took the gold pieces
in his hands and fidgeted with them, and then said, "Wait till my storekeeper comes from the forest."
`Umar was listening to that and said, "By Allah! You should not separate from Talha till you get the
money from him, for Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, 'The selling of gold for gold is Riba (usury) except if the
exchange is from hand to hand and equal in amount, and similarly, the selling of wheat for wheat is
Riba (usury) unless it is from hand to hand and equal in amount, and the selling of barley for barley is
usury unless it is from hand to hand and equal in amount, and dates for dates, is usury unless it is from
hand to hand and equal in amount"
Sahih al-Bukhari Book 34, Hadith 124
Malik related to me that Ishaq ibn Abdullah ibn Abi Talha heard
Anas ibn Malik say, "Abu Talha had the greatest amount of property in
palm-trees among the Ansar in Madina. The dearest of his properties to
him was Bayruha which was in front of the mosque. The Messenger of
Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, used to go into it and
drink from the pleasant water which was in it."
Anas
continued, "When this ayat was sent down 'You will not obtain
rightness of action until you expend of what you love,' (Sura 2 ayat
l76), Abu Talha went to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him
and grant him peace, and said, 'Messenger of Allah! Allah, the
Blessed, the Exalted, has said, "You will not obtain until you expend
of what you love." The property which I love the best is Bayruha. It
is sadaqa for Allah. I hope for its good and for it to be stored up
with Allah. Place it wherever you wish, Messengerof Allah. ' "
"The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace,
said, 'Well done! That is property which profits! That is property
which profits. I have heard what you have said about it and I think
that you should give it to your relatives.' Abu Talha said, 'I will do
it, Messenger of Allah!' Abu Talha therefore divided it among his
relatives and the children of his paternal uncle."
Muwatta Malik Book 58, Hadith 2
Yahya said, "Malik said about Jamil ibn Abd ar-Rahman al-Muadhdin
that he was present with Umar ibn Abd al-Aziz when he was judging
between people. If a man came to him with a claim against a man, he
examined whether or not there were frequent transactions and dealings
between them. If there were, the defendant could make an oath. If
there was nothing of that nature he did not accept an oath from him."
Malik summed up, "What is done in our community is that if
some one makes a claim against a man, it is examined. If there are
frequent transactions and dealings between them, the defendant is made
to take an oath. If he takes an oath, the claim against him is
dropped. If the defendant refuses to take an oath, and returns the
oath to the claimant, the one claiming his right takes an oath and
takes his due."
Muwatta Malik Book 36, Hadith 12
"Shall I not tell you about the Prophet and I?" We said: "Yes." She said: "When it was my night when he" -meaning the Prophet- "was with me, he came in, placed his shoes by his feet, lay down his Rida' (upper garment), and spread the edge of his Izar (lower garment) on his bed. As soon as he thought that I had gone to sleep, he put his shoes on slowly, and picked up his Rida' slowly. Then he opened the door slowly, went out and shut it slowly. I put my garment over my head, covered myself and put on my Izar (lower garment), and I set out after him until he came to Al-Baqi', raised his hands three times and stood there for a long time. Then he left and I left, he hurried and I hurried, he ran and I ran, and I got there before him and entered (the house). I had only just laid down when he came in and said: 'O 'Aishah, why are you out of breath?' She said: 'No.' He said: 'Either you tell me or Allah, the All-Aware, All-Knowing, will tell me.' I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, may my father and mother be sacrificed for you;' and I told him the story. He said: 'You were the black shape I saw in front of me?' I said: 'Yes.'" She said: "He gave me a shove in the chest that hurt me and said: 'You thought that Allah and His Messenger would be unfair to you.' She said: 'Whatever people conceal, Allah knows it.' He said: 'Yes.' He said: 'Jibril came to me when you saw (me leave) but he did not enter upon you because you have taken off your garments. So he called me but he concealed himself from you, and I answered him, but I concealed it from you. I thought that you had gone to sleep and I did not want to wake you, and I was afraid that you would feel lonely. He told me to go to Al-Baqi' and pray for forgiveness for them.'" 'Asim reported it from 'Abdullah bin 'Amir, from 'Aishah, with a wording different from this.
Sunan an-Nasa'i Book 36, Hadith 26
A man from Bani Aslam came to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) while he was in the mosque and called (the Prophet (ﷺ) )
saying, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! I have committed illegal sexual intercourse." On that the Prophet (ﷺ) turned
his face from him to the other side, whereupon the man moved to the side towards which the Prophet (ﷺ)
had turned his face, and said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! I have committed illegal sexual intercourse." The
Prophet turned his face (from him) to the other side whereupon the man moved to the side towards
which the Prophet (ﷺ) had turned his face, and repeated his statement. The Prophet (ﷺ) turned his face (from
him) to the other side again. The man moved again (and repeated his statement) for the fourth time. So
when the man had given witness four times against himself, the Prophet (ﷺ) called him and said, "Are you
insane?" He replied, "No." The Prophet (ﷺ) then said (to his companions), "Go and stone him to death."
The man was a married one. Jabir bin `Abdullah Al-Ansari said: I was one of those who stoned him.
We stoned him at the Musalla (`Id praying place) in Medina. When the stones hit him with their sharp
edges, he fled, but we caught him at Al-Harra and stoned him till he died.
Sahih al-Bukhari Book 68, Hadith 21
"The Prophet (ﷺ) was delivering the Khutbah one Friday when the people stood up and shouted: 'O Prophet of Allah! There has been no rain and the animals have died. Pray to Allah (SWT) to send us rain.' He said: 'O Allah, send us rain; O Allah, send us rain.' By Allah (SWT), we could not see even a wisp of a cloud in the sky, then a cloud appeared and grew, and it rained. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) came down and prayed, and the people departed, and it continued to rain until the following Friday. When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) stood up to deliver the Khutbah, they called out to him and said: 'O Prophet of Allah, the houses are destroyed and the routes are cut off. Pray to Allah to take it away from us.' The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) smiled and said: 'O Allah, around us and not on us!' Then is dispersed from Al-Madinah and rain fell around Al-Madinah but not a single drop fell on Al-Madinah. I looked, and it was in something like a ring."
Sunan an-Nasa'i Book 17, Hadith 14
One day Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) narrated to us a long narration about Ad-Dajjal and among the things he
narrated to us, was: "Ad-Dajjal will come, and he will be forbidden to enter the mountain passes of
Medina. He will encamp in one of the salt areas neighboring Medina and there will appear to him a
man who will be the best or one of the best of the people. He will say 'I testify that you are Ad-Dajjal
whose story Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) has told us.' Ad-Dajjal will say (to his audience), 'Look, if I kill this man
and then give him life, will you have any doubt about my claim?' They will reply, 'No,' Then Ad-
Dajjal will kill that man and then will make him alive. The man will say, 'By Allah, now I recognize
you more than ever!' Ad-Dajjal will then try to kill him (again) but he will not be given the power to
do so."
Sahih al-Bukhari Book 92, Hadith 79
`Abdullah bin `Abbas said that he had passed a night in the house of Maimuna the mother of the
faithful believers , who was his aunt. He said, "I slept across the bed, and Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) along with
his wife slept lengthwise. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) slept till midnight or slightly before or after it. Then Allah's
Apostle woke up, sat, and removed the traces of sleep by rubbing his hands over his face. Then he
recited the last ten verses of Surat-Al `Imran (2). Then he went towards a hanging leather watercontainer
and performed a perfect ablution and then stood up for prayer." `Abdullah bin `Abbas
added, "I got up and did the same as Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) had done and then went and stood by his side.
Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) then put his right hand over my head and caught my right ear and twisted it. He
offered two rak`at, then two rak`at, then two rak`at, then two rak`at, then two rak`at, then two rak`at
and then offered one rak`a witr. Then he lay down till the Mu'adh-dhin came and then he prayed two
light rak`at and went out and offered the early morning (Fajr) prayer."
