Either the owner of the
wares says to the borrower, 'Take these wares and sell them. Buy and
sell with the capital realized according to qirad.' The investor
stipulates increase for himself from the sale of his goods and what
relieves him of expenses in selling it. Or else he says, 'Barter with
these goods and sell. When you are through, buy for me the like of my
goods which I gave you. If there is increase, it is between you and
me. 'It may happen that the investor gives the goods to the agent at a
time in which they are in demand and expensive, and then the agent
returns them while they are cheap and he might have bought them for
only a third of the original price or even less than that. The agent
then has a profit of half the amount by which the price of the wares
has decreased as his portion of the profit. Or he might take the wares
at a time when their price is low, and make use of them until he has a
lot of money. Then those wares become expensive and their price rises
when he returns them, so he buys them for all that he has so that all
his work and concern have been in vain. This is an uncertain
transaction and is not good. If, however, that is not known until it
has happened, then the wage an agent in qirad would be paid for
selling that, is looked at and he is given it for his concern. Then
the money is qirad from the day the money became cash and collected as
coin and it is returned as a qirad like that."
Muwatta Malik Book 32, Hadith 7
We proceeded with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) putting on the Ihram for Hajj during the months of Hajj and the night of Hajj till we encamped at Sarif. He (the Holy Prophet) went to his Companions and said: He who has no sacrificial animal with him, in his case I wish that he should perform Umra (with this Ihram), and he who has the sacrificial animal with him should not do it. So some of them performed Hajj whereas others who had no sacrificial animals with them did not do (Hajj, but performed only 'Umra). The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) had a sacrificial animal with him and those too who could afford it (performed) Hajj). The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) came to me (i. e. A'isha) while I was weeping, and he said: What makes you weep? I said: I heard your talk with Companions about Umra. He said: What has happened to you? I said: I do not observe prayer (due to the monthly period), whereupon he said: It would not harm you; you should perform (during this time) the rituals of Hajj (which you can do outside the House). Maybe Allah will compensate you for this. You are one among the daughters of Adam and Allah has ordained for you as He has ordained for them. So I proceeded on (with the rituals of Hajj) till we came to Mina. I washed myself and then circumambulated the House, and the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) encamped at Muhassab and called, Abd al-Rahman b. Abu Bakr. and said: Take out your sister from the precincts of the Ka'ba in order to put on Ihram for Umra and circumambulate the House. and I shall wait for you here. She said: So I went out and put on Ihram and then circumambulated the House, and (ran) between al-Safa and al-Marwa, and then we came to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and he was in his house in the middle of the night. He said: Have you completed your (rituals)? I said: Yes. He then announced to his Companions to march on. He came out, and went to the House and circumambulated it before the dawn prayer and then proceeded to Medina.
Sahih Muslim Book 15, Hadith 131
One of the daughters of `Uthman died at Mecca. We went to attend her funeral procession. Ibn `Umar
and Ibn `Abbas were also present. I sat in between them (or said, I sat beside one of them. Then a man
came and sat beside me.) `Abdullah bin `Umar said to `Amr bin `Uthman, "Will you not prohibit
crying as Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) has said, 'The dead person is tortured by the crying of his relatives.?" Ibn
`Abbas said, "`Umar used to say so." Then he added narrating, "I accompanied `Umar on a journey
from Mecca till we reached Al-Baida. There he saw some travelers in the shade of a Samura (A kind
of forest tree). He said (to me), "Go and see who those travelers are." So I went and saw that one of
them was Suhaib. I told this to `Umar who then asked me to call him. So I went back to Suhaib and
said to him, "Depart and follow the chief of the faithful believers." Later, when `Umar was stabbed,
Suhaib came in weeping and saying, "O my brother, O my friend!" (on this `Umar said to him, "O
Suhaib! Are you weeping for me while the Prophet (ﷺ) said, "The dead person is punished by some of the
weeping of his relatives?" Ibn `Abbas added, "When `Umar died I told all this to Aisha and she said,
'May Allah be merciful to `Umar. By Allah, Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) did not say that a believer is punished by
the weeping of his relatives. But he said, Allah increases the punishment of a non-believer because of
the weeping of his relatives." Aisha further added, "The Qur'an is sufficient for you (to clear up this
point) as Allah has stated: 'No burdened soul will bear another's burden.' " (35.18). Ibn `Abbas then
said, "Only Allah makes one laugh or cry." Ibn `Umar did not say anything after that.
Sahih al-Bukhari Book 23, Hadith 46
A bedouin came and said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! Judge between us according to Allah's Book (Laws)."
His opponent stood up and said, "He has said the truth, so judge between us according to Allah's
Laws." The bedouin said, "My son was a laborer for this man and committed illegal sexual intercourse
with his wife. The people said to me, 'Your son is to be stoned to death,' so I ransomed my son for one
hundred sheep and a slave girl. Then I asked the religious learned men and they said to me, 'Your son
has to receive one hundred lashes plus one year of exile.' " The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "I shall judge between
you according to Allah's Book (Laws)! As for the slave girl and the sheep, it shall be returned to you,
and your son shall receive one-hundred lashes and be exiled for one year. O you, Unais!" The Prophet (ﷺ)
addressed some man, "Go in the morning to the wife of this man and stone her to death." So Unais
went to her the next morning and stoned her to death.
Sahih al-Bukhari Book 93, Hadith 55
"The Messenger of Allah stopped at Arafat and said: 'This is Arafah and it is a place of standing. And all of Arafat is a place for standing.' Then he departed when the sun had set and took Usamah bin Zaid as a companion rider, and he was motioning with his hand as was his custom, and the people were striking (their camels) on the right and the left to try and catch them, so he said: 'O you people! Be calmm.' Then he came to Jama and performed the two Salat there combined. When the morning came, he went to Quzah and stood there and said: 'This is Quzah, and it is a place of standing, and all of Jama is a place for standing.' Then he departed until he arrived at Wadi Muhassir. Then he stuck his she-camel and she trotted until he passed the valley. Then he stopped and took Al-Fadl as a companion rider and went to the Jamrah to stone it. Then he went to Al-Manhar and said: 'This is Al-Manhar, and all of Mina is a place for sacrifice.' A young girl from Khath'am came to ask him for a verdict, she said: 'Indeed my father is an elderly man who has lived until Allah has made Hajj obligatory, so would he be rewarded if I perform Hajj for him? He said: 'Perform Hajj for your father.'" He said: "And he turned the neck of Al Fadl. So Al-Abbas said: 'O Messenger of Allah! Why did you turn the neck of your cousin?' He said: 'I saw a young man and a young woman, and they were not safe from Shaitan.' A man came to him and said, 'O Messenger of Allah! I performed (Tawaf) Al-Ifadah before shaving.' He said: 'Shave, and there is no harm'" - or: 'Clip and there is no harm'" He said: "Someone else came and said: 'O Messenger of Allah! I did the sacrifice before stoning.' So he said: 'Stone, and there is no harm.'" He said: "Then he went to the House (Ka'bah) to perform Tawaf around it, then he went to Zamzam and said: 'O tribe of Abdul-Muttalib! If it were not that the people would rush upon you then I would remove it.'"
Jami` at-Tirmidhi Book 9, Hadith 78
"On the night on
which the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was taken on the Night Journey
(Isra'), he met Ibrahim, Musa and 'Eisa, and they discussed the Hour.
They started with Ibrahim, and asked him about it, but he did not
have any knowledge of it. Then they asked Musa, and he did not have
any knowledge of it. Then they asked 'Eisa bin Maryam, and he said:
'I have been assigned to some tasks before it happens.' As for as
when it will take place, no one knows that except Allah. Then he
mentioned Dajjal and said: 'I will descend and kill him, then the
people will return to their own lands and will be confronted with Gog
and Magog people, who will: "swoop down from every
mound." They will not pass by any water but they will
drink it, (and they will not pass) by anything but they will spoil
it. They (the people) will beseech Allah, and I will pray to Allah to
kill them. The earth will be filled with their stench and (the
people) will beseech Allah and I will pray to Allah, then the sky
will send down rain that will carry them and throw them in the sea.
Then the mountains will turn to dust and the earth will be stretched
out like a hide. I have been promised that when that happens, the
Hour will come upon the people, like a pregnant woman whose family
does not know when she will suddenly give birth.'"
(One of the narrators) 'Awwam said: "Confirmation of that is found in the Book of Allah, where Allah says: "Until, when Gog and Magog people are let loose (from their barrier), and they swoop down from every mound (21:96)."
Sunan Ibn Majah Book 36, Hadith 156
The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "I know the person who will be the last to come out of the (Hell) Fire, and the last to
enter Paradise. He will be a man who will come out of the (Hell) Fire crawling, and Allah will say to
him, 'Go and enter Paradise.' He will go to it, but he will imagine that it had been filled, and then he
will return and say, 'O Lord, I have found it full.' Allah will say, 'Go and enter Paradise, and you will
have what equals the world and ten times as much (or, you will have as much as ten times the like of
the world).' On that, the man will say, 'Do you mock at me (or laugh at me) though You are the
King?" I saw Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) (while saying that) smiling that his premolar teeth became visible. It is
said that will be the lowest in degree amongst the people of Paradise.
Sahih al-Bukhari Book 81, Hadith 159
When the time of the death of the Prophet (ﷺ) approached while there were some men in the house, and
among them was `Umar bin Al-Khatttab, the Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Come near let me write for you a writing
after which you will never go astray." `Umar said, "The Prophet (ﷺ) is seriously ill, and you have the
Qur'an, so Allah's Book is sufficient for us." The people in the house differed and disputed. Some of
them said, "Come near so that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) may write for you a writing after which you will not go
astray," while some of them said what `Umar said. When they made much noise and differed greatly
before the Prophet, he said to them, "Go away and leave me." Ibn `Abbas used to say, "It was a great
disaster that their difference and noise prevented Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) from writing that writing for them.
Sahih al-Bukhari Book 96, Hadith 93
"We were with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), while he was sitting with a group of his Companions, when they saw a glowing shooting star. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'When you saw the likes of this during Jahiliyyah, what would you say about it?' They said: 'We would say that a great man died, or that a great man has been born.' The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'It is not shot due to the death of anyone, nor his coming into life. Rather when our Lord decrees a matter, He is glorified by the bearers of the Throne. Then He is glorified by the inhabitants who are below them, then those below them, until such glorification reaches this Heaven. Then the inhabitants of the sixth Heaven ask the inhabitants of the seventh Heaven: "What did your Lord say?" He said: 'So they inform them; then the inhabitants of each Heaven seek the information, until the news is conveyed to the inhabitants of the Heavens of the earth. The Shayatin try to overhear so they are shot at, so they cast it down to their friends. Whatever they came with is true, as it is, but they distort it and add to it.'"
Jami` at-Tirmidhi Book 47, Hadith 276
My father set out (for Mecca) in the year of Al-Hudaibiya, and his companions assumed Ihram, but he
did not. At that time the Prophet (ﷺ) was informed that an enemy wanted to attack him, so the Prophet (ﷺ)
proceeded onwards. While my father was among his companions, some of them laughed among
themselves. (My father said), "I looked up and saw an onager. I attacked, stabbed and caught it. I then
sought my companions' help but they refused to help me. (Later) we all ate its meat. We were afraid
that we might be left behind (separated) from the Prophet (ﷺ) so I went in search of the Prophet (ﷺ) and made
my horse to run at a galloping speed at times and let it go slow at an ordinary speed at other times till I
met a man from the tribe of Bani Ghifar at midnight. I asked him, "Where did you leave the Prophet (ﷺ)
?" He replied, "I left him at Ta'hun and he had the intention of having the midday rest at As-Suqya. I
followed the trace and joined the Prophet (ﷺ) and said, 'O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! Your people (companions)
send you their compliments, and (ask for) Allah's Blessings upon you. They are afraid lest they may
be left behind; so please wait for them.' I added, 'O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! I hunted an onager and some of
its meat is with me. The Prophet (ﷺ) told the people to eat it though all of them were in the state of
Ihram."
Sahih al-Bukhari Book 28, Hadith 1
Yahya related to me from Malik from Ibn Shihab that Abu Bakr ibn
Sulayman ibn Abi Hathma said, "I have heard that the Messenger of
Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, prayed two rakas of
one of the two day-ti me prayers, dhuhr or asr, and said the taslim
after two rakas. Dhu'sh-Shamalayn said to him, 'Has the prayer been
shortened, Messenger of Allah, or have you forgotten?' The Messenger
of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, 'The prayer
has not been shortened and I have not forgotten.' Dhu'shShamalayn
said, 'It was certainly one of those, Messenger of Allah.' The
Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace,
approached the people and said, 'Has Dh u'sh-Shamalayn spoken the
truth?' They said, 'Yes, Messenger of Allah,' and the Messenger of
Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, completed what
remained of the prayer, and then said, 'Peace be upon you.' "
