"Verily, Tamim Ad-Dari narrated a story to me, and it made me happy, so I wanted to narrate it to you. Some people among the inhabitants of Palestine traveled by boat in the sea, taking them here and there, until it cast them on an island among the islands at sea. There they found a beast, clothed with its hair flowing out. They said: 'What are you?' It said: 'I am Al-Jassasah.' They said: 'Give us some news.' It said: 'I shall not give you any news, nor do I want any of your news. But go to the furthest village, for there is someone who will give you news and seek your news.' So we went to the furthest village, and there was a man fettered with chains. He said: 'Inform me about the spring of Zughar.' We said: ' It is full and flowing.' He said: 'Inform me about Al-Buhairah.' We said,'It is full and flowing.' He said: 'Inform me about the date groves of Baysan which is between Jordan and Palestine, do they produce food?' We said: 'Yes.' He said: 'Inform me about the Prophet, has he been sent?' We said: 'Yes.' He said: 'Inform me how the people came to him.' We said: 'Quickly.' He leaped up to try and escape.' We said: 'What are you?' He said: 'I am the Dajjal.'" (The Prophet(s.a.w) said) "He will enter all of the lands except At-Taibah, and At-Taibah is Al-Madinah."
Jami` at-Tirmidhi Book 33, Hadith 96
Sahl bin Sa`d said that a woman brought a Burda (sheet) to the Prophet. Sahl asked the people, "Do
you know what is a Burda?" The people replied, "It is a 'Shamla', a sheet with a fringe." That woman
said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! I have brought it so that you may wear it." So the Prophet (ﷺ) took it because he
was in need of it and wore it. A man among his companions, seeing him wearing it, said, "O Allah's
Apostle! Please give it to me to wear." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Yes." (and gave him that sheet). When the
Prophet left, the man was blamed by his companions who said, "It was not nice on your part to ask the
Prophet for it while you know that he took it because he was in need of it, and you also know that he
(the Prophet) never turns down anybody's request that he might be asked for." That man said, "I just
wanted to have its blessings as the Prophet (ﷺ) had put it on, so l hoped that I might be shrouded in it."
Sahih al-Bukhari Book 78, Hadith 66
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: When the Mu'adhdhin says: Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, and one of you should make this response: Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest; (and when the Mu'adhdhin) says: I testify that there is no god but Allah, one should respond: I testify that there is no god but Allah, and when he says: I testify that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, one should make a response: I testify that Muhammad is Allah's Messenger. When he (the Mu'adhdhin) says: Come to prayer, one should make a response: There is no might and no power except with Allah. When he (the Mu'adhdhin) says: Come to salvation, one should respond: There is no might and no power except with Allah, and when he (the Mu'adhdhin) says: Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, then make a response: Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest. When he (the Mu'adhdhin) says: There is no god but Allah, and he who makes a re- sponse from the heart: There is no god but Allah, he will enter Paradise.
Sahih Muslim Book 4, Hadith 14
Yahya related to me from Malik from Hisham ibn Urwa from his
father from Humran, the mawla of Uthman ibn Affan, that Uthman ibn
Affan was once sitting on the Maqaid (the benches surrounding the
Madina Mosque, or else a stone near Uthman ibn Affan's house where he
sat to discuss with people), when the muadhdhin came and told him that
it was time for the asr prayer. He called for water and did wudu. Then
he said, "By Allah, I shall tell you something which I would not tell
you if it were not in the Book of Allah. I heard the Messenger of
Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, say, 'If a man does
wudu, and makes sure he does it correctly, and then does the prayer,
he will be forgiven everything that he does between then and the time
when he prays the next prayer.' "
Yahya said that Malik said,
"I believe he meant this ayat - 'Establish prayer at the two ends of
the day and in some watches of the night. Good actions take away wrong
actions. That is a reminder for those who remember.' " (Sura 11 ayat
114).
Muwatta Malik Book 2, Hadith 29
" Do not move thy tongue there with to make haste," that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) felt it hard and he moved his lips. Ibn 'Abbas said to me (Sa'id b. Jubair): I move them just as the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) moved them. Then said Sa'id: I move them just as Ibn 'Abbas moved them, and he moved his lips. Allah, the Exalted, revealed this:" Do not move your tongue therewith to make haste. It is with US that its collection rests and its recital" (al-Qur'an, ixxv. 16). He said: Its preservation in your heart and then your recital. So when We recite it, follow its recital. He said: Listen to it, and be silent and then it rests with Us that you recite it. So when Gabriel came to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), he listened to him attentively, and when Gabriel went away, the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) recited as he (Gabriel) had recited it.
Sahih Muslim Book 4, Hadith 167
Once, while we were sitting in the company of Prophet, a dead man was
brought. The Prophet (ﷺ) was requested to lead the funeral prayer for the
deceased. He said, "Is he in debt?" The people replied in the
negative. He said, "Has he left any wealth?" They said, "No." So, he
led his funeral prayer. Another dead man was brought and the people
said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! Lead his funeral prayer." The Prophet (ﷺ) said,
"Is he in debt?" They said, "Yes." He said, "Has he left any wealth?"
They said, ''Three Dinars." So, he led the prayer. Then a third dead
man was brought and the people said (to the Prophet (ﷺ) ), Please lead his
funeral prayer." He said, "Has he left any wealth?" They said, "No."
He asked, "Is he in debt?" They said, ("Yes! He has to pay) three
Diners.', He (refused to pray and) said, "Then pray for your (dead)
companion." Abu Qatada said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! Lead his funeral
prayer, and I will pay his debt." So, he led the prayer.
Sahih al-Bukhari Book 38, Hadith 3
“When the Children of Isral became deficient in religious
commitment, a man would see his brother committing sin and would tell
him not to do it, but the next day, what he had seen him do did not
prevent him from eating or drinking with him, or mixing with him. So
Allah made the hearts of those who did not commit sin like the hearts
of those who did, and He revealed Qur’an concerning them and said:
“Those among the Children of Israel who disbelieved were cursed by
the tongue of David and ‘Eisa, son of Maryam” until he reached:
“And had they believed in Allah, and in the Prophet and in what has
been revealed to him, never would they have taken them (the
disbelievers) as their friends; but many of them are disobedient (to
Allah).”
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) sat up and said: "No, not until they take the hand of the wrongdoer (i.e. restrain him] and force him to follow the right way."
Sunan Ibn Majah Book 36, Hadith 81
Yahya related to me from Malik from Nafi from Abdullah ibn Umar
that a man once asked the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and
grant him peace, what clothes someone in ihram could wear, and the
Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "Do
not wear shirts, turbans, trousers, burnouses, or leather socks,
except if you cannot find sandals. In that case you can wear leather
socks, but cut them off below the ankles. Do not wear any clothes that
have been touched by saffron or yellow dye."
Yahya said that
Malik was asked about the hadith attributed to the Prophet, may Allah
bless him and grant him peace, "Whoever cannot find a waist wrapper
should wear trousers," and he said, "I have never heard this, and I do
not think that some one who is in ihram can wear trousers, because
among the things which the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him
peace, forbade some one in ihram to wear were trousers, and he did not
make any exception for them although he did make an exception for
leather socks."
20.4 Wearing Clothes when in Ihram
Muwatta Malik Book 20, Hadith 8
Open it for him and give him glad tidings of Paradise and, lo, it was Abu Bakr. I opened (the gate) for him and gave him the glad tidings of Paradise. Then another person asked for the door to be opened, whereupon he said: Open it and give him the glad tidings of Piradise. He said: I went away and, lo, it was 'Umar. I opened it for him and gave him the glad tidings of Paradise. Then still another man asked for the door to be opened, and thereupon Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) said: Open it and give him the glad tidings of Paradise after a trial would afflict him. I went and, lo, it was 'Uthman b. 'Affan. 1 opened the door and gave him the glad tidings of Paradise and informed him (what the Prophet had said). Thereupon he said: O Allah, grant me steadfastness. Allah is one Whose help is to be sought.
Sahih Muslim Book 44, Hadith 42
By Allah, it is you who have killed him. They said: By Allah, we have not killed him. He then came to his people, and made mention of that to them. Then came he and his brother Huwayyisa, and he was older than he, and 'Abd al-Rahman b. Sahl. Then Muhayyisa went to speak, and it was he who had accompanied ('Abdullah) to Khaibar, whereupon Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said to Muhayyisa: Observe greatness of the great (he meant the seniority of age). Then Huwayyisa spoke and then Muhayyisa also spoke. Thereupon Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: They should either pay blood-wit for your companion, or be prepared for war. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) wrote about it to them (to the Jews). They wrote: Verily, by Allah, we have not killed him. Thereupon Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said to Huwayyisa and Muhayyisa and Abd al-Rahman: Are you prepared to take oath in order to entitle yourselves for the blood-wit of your companion? They said: No. He (the Holy Prophet) said: Then the Jews will take oath (of their innocence). They said: They are not Muslims. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ), however, himself paid the blood-wit to them and sent to them one hundred camels until they entered into their houses, Sahl said: One red she-camel among them kicked me.
Sahih Muslim Book 28, Hadith 8
Ibn `Abbas said to us, "Shall I tell you the story of Abu Dhar's conversion to Islam?" We said, "Yes."
He said, "Abu Dhar said: I was a man from the tribe of Ghifar. We heard that a man had appeared in
Mecca, claiming to be a Prophet. ! said to my brother, 'Go to that man and talk to him and bring me
his news.' He set out, met him and returned. I asked him, 'What is the news with you?' He said, 'By
Allah, I saw a man enjoining what is good and forbidding what is evil.' I said to him, 'You have not
satisfied me with this little information.' So, I took a waterskin and a stick and proceeded towards
Mecca. Neither did I know him (i.e. the Prophet (ﷺ) ), nor did I like to ask anyone about him.
I Kept on drinking Zam zam water and staying in the Mosque. Then `Ali passed by me and said, 'It
seems you are a stranger?' I said, 'Yes.' He proceeded to his house and I accompanied him. Neither did
he ask me anything, nor did I tell him anything. Next morning I went to the Mosque to ask about the
Prophet but no-one told me anything about him. `Ali passed by me again and asked, 'Hasn't the man
recognized his dwelling place yet' I said, 'No.' He said, 'Come along with me.' He asked me, 'What is
your business? What has brought you to this town?'
I said to him, 'If you keep my secret, I will tell you.' He said, 'I will do,' I said to him, 'We have heard
that a person has appeared here, claiming to be a Prophet.
I sent my brother to speak to him and when he returned, he did not bring a satisfactory report; so I
thought of meeting him personally.' `Ali said (to Abu Dhar), 'You have reached your goal; I am going
to him just now, so follow me, and wherever I enter, enter after me. If I should see someone who may
cause you trouble, I will stand near a wall pretending to mend my shoes (as a warning), and you
should go away then.' `Ali proceeded and I accompanied him till he entered a place, and I entered with
him to the Prophet (ﷺ) to whom I said, 'Present (the principles of) Islam to me.' When he did, I embraced
Islam 'immediately.
He said to me, 'O Abu Dhar! Keep your conversion as a secret and return to your town; and when you
hear of our victory, return to us. ' I said, 'By H him Who has sent you with the Truth, I will announce
my conversion to Islam publicly amongst them (i.e. the infidels),' Abu Dhar went to the Mosque,
where some people from Quraish were present, and said, 'O folk of Quraish ! I testify that None has
the right to be worshipped except Allah, and I (also) testify that Muhammad is Allah's Slave and His
Apostle.' (Hearing that) the Quraishi men said, 'Get at this Sabi (i.e. Muslim) !' They got up and beat
me nearly to death. Al `Abbas saw me and threw himself over me to protect me. He then faced them
and said, 'Woe to you! You want to kill a man from the tribe of Ghifar, although your trade and your
communications are through the territory of Ghifar?' They therefore left me. The next morning I
returned (to the Mosque) and said the same as I have said on the previous day. They again said, 'Get at
this Sabi!' I was treated in the same way as on the previous day, and again Al-Abbas found me and
threw himself over me to protect me and told them the same as he had said the day before.' So, that
was the conversion of Abu Dhar (may Allah be Merciful to him) to Islam."
Sahih al-Bukhari Book 61, Hadith 32
"Hafsah bint 'Umar became single when (her husband) Khunais -meaning bin Hudhafah- (died). He was one of the Companions of the Prophet who had been present at Badr, and he died in Al-Madinah. I met 'Uthman bin 'Affan and offered Hafsah in marriage to him. I said: 'If you wish, I will marry you to Hafsah.' He said: 'I will think about it.' A few days passed, then I met him and he said: 'I do not want to get married at the moment.'" 'Umar said: "Then I met Abu Bakr As-Siddiq, may Allah be pleased with him, and said: 'If you wish, I will marry Hafsah to you.' He did not give me any answer, and I felt more upset with him than I had with 'Uthman, may Allah be pleased with him. Several days passed, then the Messenger of Allah proposed marriage to her, and I married her to him. Abu Bakr met me and said: 'Perhaps you felt upset with me when you offered Hafsah in marriage to me and I did not give you an answer?' I said: 'Yes.' He said: 'Nothing prevented me from giving you an answer when you made the offer to me except the fact that I had heard the Messenger of Allah speak of her, and I did not want to disclose the secret of the Messenger of Allah; if he had left her, then I would have married her.'"
Sunan an-Nasa'i Book 26, Hadith 53
Yahya related to me from Malik from Rabia ibn Abi Abd ar-Rahman
from Umm Salama, the wife of the Prophet may Allah bless him and grant
him peace, that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant
him peace, said, "If a misfortune befalls some one and he says, as
Allah has ordered, 'We belong to Allah and to Him we are returning. O
Allah, reward me in my misfortune and give me better than it
afterwards,' Allah will do that for him" (Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi
rajiun. Allahumma' jurniy fi musiybatiy, wa a qibhiy khayran minha,
illa faala 'llahu dhalika bihi.).
Umm Salama said, "When Abu
Salama died I said that, and then I said, 'Who is better than Abu
Salama?' " And then Allah left her the Messenger of Allah, may Allah
bless him and grant him peace, and he married her.
