`Abdullah bin Sahl and Muhaiyisa bin Mas`ud bin Zaid set out to Khaibar, the inhabitants of which
had a peace treaty with the Muslims at that time. They parted and later on Muhaiyisa came upon
`Abdullah bin Sah! and found him murdered agitating in his blood. He buried him and returned to
Medina. `Abdur Rahman bin Sahl, Muhaiyisa and Huwaiuisa, the sons of Mas`ud came to the Prophet (ﷺ)
and `Abdur Rahman intended to talk, but the Prophet (ﷺ) said (to him), "Let the eldest of you speak." as
`Abdur-Rahman was the youngest:. `Abdur-Rahman kept silent and the other two spoke. The Prophet (ﷺ)
said, "If you swear as to who has committed the murder, you will have the right to take your right
from the murderer." They said, "How should we swear if we did not witness the murder or see the
murderer?" The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Then the Jews can clear themselves from the charge by taking Alaska
(an oath taken by men that it was not they who committed the murder)." The!y said, "How should we
believe in the oaths of infidels?" So, the Prophet (ﷺ) himself paid the blood money (of `Abdullah). (See
Hadith No. 36 Vol. 9.)
Sahih al-Bukhari Book 58, Hadith 15
Yahya related to me from Malik, from Hisham ibn Urwa, that
Abdullah ibn az-Zubayr stayed in Makka for nine years. He would go
into ihram for hajj at the beginning of Dhu'l-Hijja, and Urwa ibn az-
Zubayr, who was with him, would do likewise.
Yahya said that
Malik said, "The people of Makka and whoever else is living there
besides them should go into ihram for hajj if they are in Makka, and
anyone that is living in the centre of Makka and is not one of the
people of Makka should not leave the Haram."
Yahya said that
Malik said, "Someone who goes into ihram for hajj in Makka should
delay tawaf of the House and the sa'y between Safa and Marwa until he
has come back from Mina, which is what Abdullah ibn Umar used to do."
Malik was asked what the people of Madina, or anybody else,
should do about tawaf if they went into ihram in Makka at the
beginning of Dhu'l-Hijja, and he said, "They should delay the
obligatory tawaf, which is the one they combine with the say between
Safa and Marwa, but they can do whatever other tawaf they want to, and
they should pray two rakas every time they complete seven tawafs,
which is what the companions of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah
bless him and grant him peace, did when they had gone into ihram to do
hajj. They delayed the tawaf of the House and the sa'y between Safa
and Marwa until they had come back from Mina. Abdullah ibn Umar also
did this, going into ihram for hajj in Makka at the beginning of
Dhu'l-Hijja, and then delaying tawaf of theHouse and the say between
Safa and Marwa until he had come back from Mina."
Malik was
asked whether one of the people of Makka could go into ihram to do
umra in the centre of Makka, and he said, "No. He should go outside
the Haram and go into ihram there."
Muwatta Malik Book 20, Hadith 52
"Allah's Messenger taught me some phrases to say during Al-Witr (Allahummahdini fiman hadait, wa a'fini fiman afait, wa tawallani fiman tawallait, wa barik Li fima atait, wa qini sharra ma qadait, fa Innaka taqdi wa la yuqda Alaik, wa innahu la yadhillu man walait, tabarakta Rabbana wa ta'alait.) 'O Allah guide me among those You have guided, pardon me among those You have pardoned, befriend me among those You have befriended, bless me in what You have granted, and save me from the evil that You decreed. Indeed You decree, and none can pass decree, and none can pass decree upon You, indeed he is not humiliated whom You have befriended, blessed are You our Lord and Exalted.'"
Jami` at-Tirmidhi Book 3, Hadith 12
While we were with Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) who was distributing (i.e. some property), there came Dhu-l-
Khuwaisira, a man from the tribe of Bani Tamim and said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! Do Justice." The
Prophet said, "Woe to you! Who could do justice if I did not? I would be a desperate loser if I did not
do justice." `Umar said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! Allow me to chop his head off." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Leave
him, for he has companions who pray and fast in such a way that you will consider your fasting
negligible in comparison to theirs. They recite Quran but it does not go beyond their throats (i.e. they
do not act on it) and they will desert Islam as an arrow goes through a victim's body, so that the
hunter, on looking at the arrow's blade, would see nothing on it; he would look at its Risaf and see
nothing: he would look at its Na,di and see nothing, and he would look at its Qudhadh ( 1 ) and see
nothing (neither meat nor blood), for the arrow has been too fast even for the blood and excretions to
smear. The sign by which they will be recognized is that among them there will be a black man, one
of whose arms will resemble a woman's breast or a lump of meat moving loosely. Those people will
appear when there will be differences amongst the people." I testify that I heard this narration from
Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) and I testify that `Ali bin Abi Talib fought with such people, and I was in his
company. He ordered that the man (described by the Prophet (ﷺ) ) should be looked for. The man was
brought and I looked at him and noticed that he looked exactly as the Prophet (ﷺ) had described him.
