"When the Prophet of Allah sat, some of his Companions would sit with him. Among them was a man who had a little son who used to come to him from behind, and he would make him sit in front of him. He (the child) died, and the man stopped attending the circle because it reminded him of his son, and made him feel sad. The Prophet missed him and said: 'Why do I not see so-and-so?' They said: O Messenger of Allah, his son whom you saw has died.' The Prophet met him and asked him about his son, and he told him that he had died. He offered his condolences and said: 'O son-and-so, which would you like better, to enjoy his company all you life, or to come to any of the gates of Paradise on the Day of Resurrection, and find that he arrived there before you, and he is opening the gate for you?' he said: 'O Prophet of Allah! For him to get to the gate of Paradise before me and open it for me is dearer to me.' He said: 'You will have that."'
Sunan an-Nasa'i Book 21, Hadith 271
Allah's Messenger (way peace be upon him) said to me: When you let off your dog, recite the name of Allah, and if it catches (game for you) and you find it alive, then slaughter it; if you find it killed and that (your dog) has eaten nothing out of that, (even then) you may eat it; but if you find along with your dog another dog, and (the game an) dead, then don't eat, for you do not know which of the two has killed it. And if you shoot your arrow, recite the name of Allah, but if it (game) goes out of your sight for a day and you do not find on that but the mark of your arrow, then eat that it you so like, but if you find it drowned in water, then don't eat that.
Sahih Muslim Book 34, Hadith 10
Yahya related to me from Malik from Sumayy, the mawla of Abu
Bakr, from Abu Salih as Samman, from Abu Hurayra that the Messenger of
Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "When the imam
has said, 'not of those with whom You are angry nor of those who are
in error,' say 'Amin', for the previous wrong actions of the one whose
utterance coincides with that of the angels, are forgiven him."
Muwatta Malik Book 3, Hadith 48
Az-Zubair said, "I met Ubaida bin Sa`id bin Al-As on the day (of the battle) of Badr and he was
covered with armor; so much that only his eyes were visible. He was surnamed Abu Dhat-al-Karish.
He said (proudly), 'I am Abu-al-Karish.' I attacked him with the spear and pierced his eye and he died.
I put my foot over his body to pull (that spear) out, but even then I had to use a great force to take it
out as its both ends were bent." `Urwa said, "Later on Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) asked Az-Zubair for the spear
and he gave it to him. When Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) died, Az-Zubair took it back. After that Abu Bakr
demanded it and he gave it to him, and when Abu Bakr died, Az-Zubair took it back. `Umar then
demanded it from him and he gave it to him. When `Umar died, Az-Zubair took it back, and then
`Uthman demanded it from him and he gave it to him. When `Uthman was martyred, the spear
remained with `Ali's offspring. Then `Abdullah bin Az-Zubair demanded it back, and it remained with
him till he was martyred.
Sahih al-Bukhari Book 64, Hadith 49
Yahya related to me from Malik that Yahya ibn Said heard Sulayman
ibn Yasar mention that a face wound in which the bone was bared was
like a head wound in which the bone was bared, unless the face was
scarred by the wound. Then the blood-money is increased by one half of
the blood-money of the head wound in which the skin was bared so that
seventy five dinars are payable for it.
Malik said, "What is
done in our community is that the head wound with splinters has
fifteen camels." He explained, "The head wound with splinters is that
from which pieces of bone fly off and which does not reach the brain.
It can be in the head or the face."
Malik said, "The
generally agreed on way of doing things in our community, is that
there is no retaliation for a wound to the brain or a belly wound, and
Ibn Shihab has said, 'There is no retaliation for a wound to the
brain.' "
Malik explained, "The wound to the brain is what
pierces the bones to the brain. This type of wound only occurs in the
head. It is that which reaches the brain when the bones are pierced."
Malik said, "What is done in our community is that there is
no blood-money paid on any head wound less than one which lays bare
the skull. Blood-money is payable only for the head wound that bares
the bone and what is worse than that. That is because the Messenger of
Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, stopped at the head
wound which bared the bone in his letter to Amr ibn Hazm. He made it
five camels. The imams, past and present, have not made any blood-
money payable for injuries less than the head wound which bares the
bone."
