Then they reverted, “Certainly you know that these speak not!
They were crestfallen: ‘You know they cannot speak.‘
But then they reversed their minds: 'You know they do not speak.
Then they shook their heads; you know that these don´t speak.
Then they returned to their old ideas: "You know that they do not speak!"
Then they turned upside down again: 'Thou knewest that these cannot speak.
They shook their heads in disbelief and said, “You know they can’t speak.”
Then they were turned on their heads Verily you know not these (can) speak
then they hung their heads, and said, O Abraham! You know they cannot speak
Then they bowed on their heads: “You already knew that they were not speaking.”
Then they reversed [their opnion]: "You knew those things do not utter [a word]."
Then they turned to themselves and said, "Certainly you yourselves are the unjust."
Then crestfallen (they confessed): "Truly, as you know, they cannot speak."
Then they were made to hang down their heads: Thou knowest indeed that they speak not
Then they were lied downward on the heads, that you know well that these do not speak.
And they were utterly confounded, and they said: Well thou knowest that these speak not
Then they were made to hang down their heads: Certainly you know that they do not speak
Then they were turned upside down on their heads, 'Indeed, you know these cannot speak.'
They hung their heads [with shame]. “Certainly, you know that these [idols] do not speak.”
But then they were reverted to their former notion: “You know well that these can’t speak.”
But they reverted to their old ideas: 'You certainly know that these do not speak.'
Then they hung their heads: "You knew those things do not utter [a word]."
but then they lapsed again and said, ‘You know very well these gods cannot speak.’
With their heads cast down, they said: "You know very well that these (images) do not speak."
Yet, they reverted to their old ideas: "You know full well that these cannot speak."
Then they were angered and embarrassed. They said, “You know full well that these do not speak.
And, their heads hanging down, they said to Abraham, "You do know they do not speak."
Then, they reversed themselves, [saying], "You [Abraham] knew that these [idols] do not speak!"
Then were they confounded with shame and said, "You knew well that these cannot speak."
Then they were utterly put to confusion saying, 'Very well indeed thou knowest these do not speak.
Then they were turned upside down on their heads/tops, "You had known those do not speak."
Again, they were put into confusion: Certainly, thou hadst known that these speak not for themselves!
Again they were inverted upon their heads; saying, "You know well that these do not speak."
But then they relapsed back into their kufr: ´You know full well these idols cannot talk.´
Then they turned to themselves (and said): “Indeed you (Abraham) know that these (idols) cannot speak!”
But they brushed that thought aside and said, "Of course, they do not talk! And you know it!"
Then they reverted back to their former position [and said], “You know indeed that these cannot speak.”
Afterwards they relapsed into their former obstinacy, and said, verily thou knowest that these speak not
Then they hung their heads. [They said], ‘You certainly know that they cannot speak.’
Then became headstrong in their former error and exclaimed,"Thou knowest that these speak not."
Then their minds were turned upside down, and they said: "You know well that they do not speak."
Thereafter they were made to turn over upon their heads, saying, assuredly thou knowest that they speak not
Then they reversed themselves, [saying], "You have already known that these do not speak!"
Then, feeling confused, they went back to their previous thought and insisted, “But you know they cannot speak!”
Then they were turned on their heads (in shame or in defiance saying:) “You certainly know that these do not talk.”
Then were they confounded with shame: (they said), "Thou knowest full well that these (idols) do not speak!"
Then they were confused, faced with shame: (They said:) "You know very well that these (idols) do not speak!"
Then, hanging their heads they reversed their position (and replied to Ibrahim,) .You already knew that they do not speak
They were utterly confounded in shame, lowered their heads and said to Abraham, "You know that they speak not."
And they were made to hang down their heads for shame and said to Abraham, `Certainly thou knowest well that these do not speak.
With their heads cast down they said, "Abraham, you know that idols do not speak. How then can you ask such a question?"
Then they were made to bow their heads and cast down their eyes, (saying:): ‘Very well indeed you know that these images don’t speak’.
Then they were made to hang down their heads (in shame and said to Abraham), `Indeed, you know very well that these (idols) do not speak.
But then they relapsed into their former way of thinking and said: “Thou knowest very well that these [idols] cannot speak!”
Then they turned to themselves (their first thought and said): "Indeed you (Ibrahim (Abraham)) know well that these (idols) speak not!"
They [were too proud, however, to admit it publicly and] returned to their roots and said: “You know well that the idols do not speak.”
Then they ˹quickly˺ regressed to their ˹original˺ mind-set, ˹arguing,˺ “You already know that those ˹idols˺ cannot talk.”
Then they were turned upside down upon their heads (i.e., their thinking reverted and they said: ‘Ibrahim [Abraham]), surely you yourself know that they do not speak.
As an effect they were compelled to lower down their heads in humiliation (saying): “Surely, indeed, you (O Ibrahim) knew that these do not talk (either to us or to themselves).”
Thereafter they were made to relapse (Literally: they were turned upon their heads) (into idolatry), (saying), "Indeed you already know that these (can) in no way pronounce (a word)."
But afterwards, (under the influence of the same factors causing them to disbelieve) they relapsed into their former way of believing, and said to Abraham: "You know very well that these (images) cannot speak."
