Somebody said to Usama, "Will you go to so-and-so (i.e. `Uthman) and talk to him (i.e. advise him
regarding ruling the country)?" He said, "You see that I don't talk to him. Really I talk to (advise) him
secretly without opening a gate (of affliction), for neither do I want to be the first to open it (i.e.
rebellion), nor will I say to a man who is my ruler that he is the best of all the people after I have
heard something from Allah s Apostle ." They said, What have you heard him saying? He said, "I
have heard him saying, "A man will be brought on the Day of Resurrection and thrown in the (Hell)
Fire, so that his intestines will come out, and he will go around like a donkey goes around a millstone.
The people of (Hell) Fire will gather around him and say: O so-and-so! What is wrong with you?
Didn't you use to order us to do good deeds and forbid us to do bad deeds? He will reply: Yes, I used
to order you to do good deeds, but I did not do them myself, and I used to forbid you to do bad deeds,
yet I used to do them myself."
Sahih al-Bukhari Book 59, Hadith 77
On the day (of the battle) of Khaibar the Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Tomorrow I will give the flag to somebody
who will be given victory (by Allah) and who loves Allah and His Apostle and is loved by Allah and
His Apostle." So, the people wondered all that night as to who would receive the flag and in the
morning everyone hoped that he would be that person. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) asked, "Where is `Ali?" He
was told that `Ali was suffering from eye-trouble, so he applied saliva to his eyes and invoked Allah
to cure him. He at once got cured as if he had no ailment. The Prophet (ﷺ) gave him the flag. `Ali said,
"Should I fight them till they become like us (i.e. Muslim)?" The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Go to them patiently
and calmly till you enter the land. Then, invite them to Islam, and inform them what is enjoined upon
them, for, by Allah, if Allah gives guidance to somebody through you, it is better for you than
possessing red camels."
Sahih al-Bukhari Book 56, Hadith 218
We fought In the company of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) with the tribe of Juhaina. They fought with us terribly. When we had finished the noon prayer, the polytheists said: Had we attacked them at once. we would have killed them. Gabriel informed the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) about It (about their evil design). The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) made a mention of it to us, adding that they (the polytheists) had also said: Shortly there would be time for the 'Asr prayer. which is dearer o them (the Muslims) than even their children. So when the time of the 'Asr prayer came. we formed ourselves into two rows, while the polytheists were between us and the Qibla. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Allah is Most Great, and we also said so. He bowed and we also bowed. He went down in prostration and the first row prostrated along with him. When they stood up, the second row went down in prostration. Then the first row went into the rear, and the second row came in the front and occupied the place of the first row. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) then said: Allah is Most Great, and we also said so. He then bowed, and we also bowed. He then went down in prostration and along with him the row also (went down in prostration), and the second row remained standing. And when the second row had also prostrated and all of them sat down then the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) pronounced salutation to them. Abu Zubair said: Jabir made a mention specially of this thing: just as your chiefs observe prayer.
Sahih Muslim Book 6, Hadith 374
`Aisha said If the Prophet (ﷺ) saw a cloud In the sky, he would walk to and fro in agitation, go out and
come in, and the color of his face would change, and if it rained, he would feel relaxed." So `Aisha
knew that state of his. So the Prophet (ﷺ) said, I don't know (am afraid), it may be similar to what
happened to some people referred to in the Holy Quran in the following Verse: -- "Then when they
saw it as a dense cloud coming towards their valleys, they said, 'This is a cloud bringing us rain!' Nay,
but, it is that (torment) which you were asking to be hastened a wind wherein is severe torment."

Sahih al-Bukhari Book 59, Hadith 17
Yahya related to me from Malik from Nafi from Aslam, the mawla of
Umar ibn al Khattab, that Umar ibn al-Khattab discovered the smell of
perfume while he was at ash-Shajara, and he asked, "Who is this smell
of perfume coming from?" Muawiya ibn Abi Sufyan answered, "From me,
amir al-muminin." Umar said, "From you? By the life of Allah!" Muawiya
explained, "Umm Habiba perfumed me, amir al-muminin. "'Umar then said,
"You must go back and wash it off."
Muwatta Malik Book 20, Hadith 21
We were in the company of the Prophet (ﷺ) at a banquet and a cooked (mutton) forearm was set before
him, and he used to like it. He ate a morsel of it and said, "I will be the chief of all the people on the
Day of Resurrection. Do you know how Allah will gather all the first and the last (people) in one level
place where an observer will be able to see (all) of them and they will be able to hear the announcer,
and the sun will come near to them. Some People will say: Don't you see, in what condition you are
and the state to which you have reached? Why don't you look for a person who can intercede for you
with your Lord? Some people will say: Appeal to your father, Adam.' They will go to him and say: 'O
Adam! You are the father of all mankind, and Allah created you with His Own Hands, and ordered the
angels to prostrate for you, and made you live in Paradise. Will you not intercede for us with your
Lord? Don't you see in what (miserable) state we are, and to what condition we have reached?' On that
Adam will reply, 'My Lord is so angry as He has never been before and will never be in the future;
(besides), He forbade me (to eat from) the tree, but I disobeyed (Him), (I am worried about) myself!
Myself! Go to somebody else; go to Noah.' They will go to Noah and say; 'O Noah! You are the first
amongst the messengers of Allah to the people of the earth, and Allah named you a thankful slave.
Don't you see in what a (miserable) state we are and to what condition we have reached? Will you not
intercede for us with your Lord? Noah will reply: 'Today my Lord has become so angry as he had
never been before and will never be in the future Myself! Myself! Go to the Prophet (Muhammad).
The people will come to me, and I will prostrate myself underneath Allah's Throne. Then I will be
addressed: 'O Muhammad! Raise your head; intercede, for your intercession will be accepted, and ask
(for anything). for you will be given. "
