“I was a man who had an issue with intercourse with a women that none other than me had. When (the month of) Ramadan entered, I pronounced Zihar upon my wife (to last) until the end of Ramadan, fearing that I might have an encounter with her during the night, and I would continue doing that until daylight came upon me, and I would not be able to stop. One night while she was serving me, something of her became exposed for me, so I rushed myself upon her. When the morning came I went to my people to inform them about what happened to me. I said: ‘Accompany me to the Messenger of Allah to inform him about my case.’ They said: ‘No by Allah! We shall not do that, we feat that something will be revealed about us in the Quran, or the Messenger of Allah might say something about us, the disgrace of which will remain upon us. But you do and do whatever you want.’” He said: “So I left and I went to the Messenger of Allah, and informed him of my case. He said: ‘You are the one who did that?” I said: ‘I am the one.’ He said: ‘You are the one who did that?” I said: ‘I am the one.’ He said: ‘You are the one who did that?” I said: ‘I am the one, it is before you, so give me Allah’s judgment, for I shall be patient with that.’ He said: ‘Free a slave.’” He said: “I struck the sides of my neck with me hands, and said: ‘No by the One Who sent you with the Truth! I possess nothing besides it.’ He said: ‘Then fast for two months’ I said: ‘O Messenger of Allah! Did this occur to me other than when I was fasting?’ He said: ‘Then feed sixty poor people.’ I said: ‘By the One Who sent you with the Truth! We have spent these nights of ours hungry without an evening meal.’ He said: ‘Go to the one with the charity from Banu Ruzaiq, tell him to give it to you, then feed a Wasq of it, on your behalf, to sixty poor people. Then help yourself and your dependants with the remainder of it.’” He said: “I returned to my people and said: ‘I found dejection and bad ideas with you, and I found liberalness and blessing with the Messenger of Allah. He ordered me to take your charity, so give it to me.’ So they gave it to me.”
Jami` at-Tirmidhi Book 47, Hadith 351
Yahya related to me from Malik from Ibn Shihab from Urwa ibn az-
Zubayr that Abd ar-Rahman ibn Abd al-Qari said that he had heard Umar
ibn al-Khattab say, "I heard Hisham ibn Hakim ibn Hizam reciting Surat
al-Furqan (Sura 25) differently from me, and it was the Messenger of
Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, who had recited it to
me. I was about to rush up to him but I granted him a respite until he
had finished his prayer. Then I grabbed him by his cloak and took him
to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace,
and said, 'Messenger of Allah, I heard this man reciting Surat al-
Furqan differently from the way you recited it to me.' The Messenger
of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, 'Let him go.'
Then he said, 'Recite, Hisham,' and Hisham recited as I had heard him
recite. The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him
peace, said, 'It was sent down like that.' Then he said to me,
'Recite' and I recited the sura, and he said, 'It was sent down like
that. This Quran was sent down in seven (different) ways, so recite
from it whatever is easy for you .' "
Muwatta Malik Book 15, Hadith 6
Shahl bin Sa`d said, "A lady came with a Burda. Sahl then asked (the people), "Do you know what
Burda is?" Somebody said, "Yes. it is a Shamla with a woven border." Sahl added, "The lady said, 'O
Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! I have knitted this (Burda) with my own hands for you to wear it." Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)
took it and he was in need of it. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) came out to us and he was wearing it as an Izar. A
man from the people felt it and said, 'O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! Give it to me to wear.' The Prophet (ﷺ) s said,
'Yes.' Then he sat there for some time (and when he went to his house), he folded it and sent it to him.
The people said to that man, 'You have not done a right thing. You asked him for it, though you know
that he does not put down anybody's request.' The man said, 'By Allah! I have only asked him so that
it may be my shroud when I die." Sahl added, "Late it was his shroud."
Sahih al-Bukhari Book 77, Hadith 28
