Mention was made of li'an in the presence of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ). And Asim b. 'Adi passed a remark about it and then turned away, and a man of his tribe came to him complaining that he had found a man with his wife, whereupon 'Asim said: I have been taken by my words. He took him to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) and told him about the man whom he had found with his wife and this man was a lean, yellow-coloured man with lank hair, and the person who was accused of committing adultery with her (his wife) had fleshy shanks, with wheat complexion and heavy bulk. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: O Allah, make (this case) manifest. And as she gave birth to a child, whose face resembled that person about whom her husband had made mention that he had found her with, and Allah's Messenger (may peace be, upon him) had asked them to invoke curses. A person said to Ibn 'Abbas (Allah be pleased with him): Is she (that woman) about whom Allah's Messenger (may peace be upen him) (said):" If I were to stone anybody without evidence, I would have stoned her"? Ibn 'Abbas (Allah be pleased with him) said: No, it is not she. That woman was one who openly spread evil in society.
Sahih Muslim Book 19, Hadith 16
I was with `Abdullah and Abu Musa; the latter asked the former, "O Abu `Abdur-Rahman! What is
your opinion if somebody becomes Junub and no water is available?" `Abdullah replied, "Do not pray
till water is found." Abu Musa said, "What do you say about the statement of `Ammar (who was
ordered by the Prophet (ﷺ) to perform Tayammum). The Prophet (ﷺ) said to him: "Perform Tayammum and
that would be sufficient." `Abdullah replied, "Don't you see that `Umar was not satisfied by `Ammar's
statement?" Abu- Musa said, "All right, leave `Ammar's statement, but what will you say about this
verse (of Tayammum)?" `Abdullah kept quiet and then said, "If we allowed it, then they would
probably perform Tayammum even if water was available, if one of them found it (water) cold." The
narrator added, "I said to Shaqiq, "Then did `Abdullah dislike to perform Tayammum because of
this?" He replied, "Yes."
Sahih al-Bukhari Book 7, Hadith 13
Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) arrived at Medina with Abu Bakr, riding behind him on the same camel. Abu Bakr
was an elderly man known to the people, while Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) was a youth that was unknown. Thus,
if a man met Abu Bakr, he would say, "O Abu Bakr! Who is this man in front of you?" Abu Bakr
would say, "This man shows me the Way," One would think that Abu Bakr meant the road, while in
fact, Abu Bakr meant the way of virtue and good. Then Abu Bakr looked behind and saw a horse-rider
pursuing them. He said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! This is a horse-rider pursuing us." The Prophet (ﷺ) looked
behind and said, "O Allah! Cause him to fall down." So the horse threw him down and got up
neighing. After that the rider, Suraqa said, "O Allah's Prophet! Order me whatever you want." The
Prophet said, "Stay where you are and do not allow anybody to reach us." So, in the first part of the
day Suraqa was an enemy of Allah's Prophet and in the last part of it, he was a protector. Then Allah's
Apostle alighted by the side of the Al-Harra and sent a message to the Ansar, and they came to Allah's
Prophet and Abu Bakr, and having greeted them, they said, "Ride (your she-camels) safe and obeyed."
Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) and Abu Bakr rode and the Ansar, carrying their arms, surrounded them. The news
that Allah's Prophet had come circulated in Medina. The people came out and were eagerly looking
and saying "Allah's Prophet has come! Allah's Prophet has come! So the Prophet (ﷺ) went on till he
alighted near the house of Abu Ayub. While the Prophet (ﷺ) was speaking with the family members of
Abu Ayub, `Abdullah bin Salam heard the news of his arrival while he himself was picking the dates
for his family from his family garden. He hurried to the Prophet (ﷺ) carrying the dates which he had
collected for his family from the garden. He listened to Allah's Prophet and then went home.
Then Allah's Prophet said, "Which is the nearest of the houses of our kith and kin?" Abu Ayub
replied, "Mine, O Allah's Prophet! This is my house and this is my gate." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Go and
prepare a place for our midday rest." Abu Ayub said, "Get up (both of you) with Allah's Blessings."
So when Allah's Prophet went into the house, `Abdullah bin Salam came and said "I testify that you
(i.e. Muhammad) are Apostle of Allah and that you have come with the Truth. The Jews know well
that I am their chief and the son of their chief and the most learned amongst them and the son of the
most learned amongst them. So send for them (i.e. Jews) and ask them about me before they know
that I have embraced Islam, for if they know that they will say about me things which are not correct."
So Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) sent for them, and they came and entered. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said to them, "O (the
group of) Jews! Woe to you: be afraid of Allah. By Allah except Whom none has the right to be
worshipped, you people know for certain, that I am Apostle of Allah and that I have come to you with
the Truth, so embrace Islam." The Jews replied, "We do not know this." So they said this to the
Prophet and he repeated it thrice. Then he said, "What sort of a man is `Abdullah bin Salam amongst
you?" They said, "He is our chief and the son of our chief and the most learned man, and the son of
the most learned amongst us." He said, "What would you think if he should embrace Islam?" They
said, "Allah forbid! He can not embrace Islam." He said, " What would you think if he should
embrace Islam?" They said, "Allah forbid! He can not embrace Islam." He said, "What would you
think if he should embrace Islam?" They said, "Allah forbid! He can not embrace Islam." He said, "O
Ibn Salam! Come out to them." He came out and said, "O (the group of) Jews! Be afraid of Allah
except Whom none has the right to be worshipped. You know for certain that he is Apostle of Allah
and that he has brought a True Religion!' They said, "You tell a lie." On that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) turned
them out.
Sahih al-Bukhari Book 63, Hadith 136
Yahya related to me from Malik, from Hisham ibn Urwa, from his
father, that A'isha, umm al-muminin, said to him, "Son of my sister,
it is only for ten nights, so if you get an urge to do something,
leave it," by which she meant eating game-meat.
Malik said
that if game was hunted forthe sake of a man who is in ihram and it
was prepared for him and he ate some of it knowing that it had been
hunted for his sake, then he had to pay a forfeit for all of the game
that had been hunted on his behalf.
Malik was asked about
whether someone who was forced to eat carrion while he was in ihram
should hunt game and then eat that rather than the carrion, and he
said, "It is better for him to eat the carrion, because Allah, the
Blessed and Exalted, has not given permission for someone in ihram to
either eat game or take it in any situation, but He has made
allowances for eating carrion when absolutely necessary."
Malik said, "It is not halal for anyone, whether in ihram or not, to
eat game which has been killed or sacrificed by some one in ihram,
because, whether it was killed deliberately or by mistake, it was not
done in a halal manner, and so eating it is not halal. I have heard
this from more than one person. Somebody who kills game and then eats
it only has to make a single kaffara, which is the same as for
somebody who kills game but does not eat any of it."
Muwatta Malik Book 20, Hadith 87
Yahya related to me from Malik from Ibn Shihab that Abu Ubayd,
the mawla of Ibn Azhar said, "I was present at an id with Umar ibn al-
Khattab. He prayed, and then after he had prayed he gave a khutba to
the people and said, 'The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and
grant him peace, forbade fasting on these two days - the day you break
your fast (after Ramadan), and the day you eat from your sacrifice
(after Hajj) .' "
Abu Ubaydcontinued,"Then I was present at
an id with Uthman ibn Affan. He came and prayed, and when he had
finished he gave a khutba and said, 'Two ids have been joined together
for you on this day of yours. If any of the people of al-Aliyya (the
hills outlying Madina) want to wait for the jumua they can do so, and
if any of them want to return, I have given them permission.' Abu
Ubayd continued, "Then I was present at an id with AIi ibn Abi Talib
(at the time when Uthman was being detained). He came and prayed, and
then after he had prayed he gave a khutba."
Muwatta Malik Book 10, Hadith 5
that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Indeed Allah commanded Yahya bin Zakariyya with five commandments to abide by, and to command the Children of Isra'il to abide by them. But he was slow in doing so. So 'Eisa said: 'Indeed Allah commanded you with five commandments to abide by and to command the Children of Isra'il to abide by. Either you command them, or I shall command them.' So Yahya said: 'I fear that if you precede me in this, then the earth may swallow me, or I shall be punished.' So he gathered the people in Jerusalem, and they filled and sat upon its balconies. So he said: 'Indeed Allah has commanded me with five commandments to abide by, and to command you to abide by. The first of them is that you worship Allah and not associate anything with him. The parable of the one who associates others with Allah is that of a man who buys a servant with his own gold or silver, then he says to him: "This is my home and this is my business so take care of it and give me the profits." So he takes care of it and gives the profits to someone other than his master. Which of you would live to have a servant like that? And Allah commands you to perform Salat, and when you perform Salat then do not turn away, for Allah is facing the face of His worshipers as long as he does not turn away. And He commands you with fasting. For indeed the parable of fasting, is that of a man in a group with a sachet containing musk. All of them enjoy its fragrance. Indeed the breath of the fasting person is more pleasant to Allah than the scent of musk. And He commands you to give charity. The parable of that, is a man captured by his enemies, tying his hands to his neck, and they come to him to beat his neck. Then he said: "I can ransom myself from you with a little or a lot" so he ransoms himself from them. And He commands you to remember Allah. For indeed the parable of that, is a man whose enemy quickly tracks him until he reaches an impermeable fortress in which he protects himself from them. This is how the worshiper is; he does not protect himself from Ash-Shaitan except by the remembrance of Allah.'" The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "And I command you with five that Allah commanded me: Listening and obeying, Jihad, Hijrah, and the Jama'ah. For indeed whoever parts from the Jama'ah the measure of a hand-span, then he has cast off the yoke of Islam from his neck, unless he returns. And whoever calls with the call of Jahiliyyah then he is from the coals of Hell." A man said: "O Messenger of Allah! Even if he performs Salat and fasts?" So he (ﷺ) said: "Even if he performs Salat and fasts. So call with the call that Allah named you with: Muslims, believers, worshipers of Allah."
Jami` at-Tirmidhi Book 44, Hadith 5
That he was in a gathering where the Messenger of Allah was present and he said: "I used to forbid you to eat the sacrificial mea for more than three days, but now eat it, give it to others and store it for as long as you want. And I told you not to make Nabidh in these containers: Ad-Dubba', Al-Muzaqqat, An-Naqir, and Al-Hantam. But now make Nabidh in whatever you want, but avoid everything that intoxicates. And I forbade you to visit graves, but now whoever want to visit them, let him do so, but do not utter anything which is not suitable."
