Yahya related to me from Malik from Nafi that when Abdullah ibn
Umar set out for Makka during the troubles (between al-Hajjaj ibn
Yusuf and Zubair ibn al-Awwam) he said, "If I am blocked from going to
the House we shall do what we did when we were with the Messenger of
Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace," and he went into
ihram for umra, because that was what the Messenger of Allah, may
Allah bless him and grant him peace, did in the year of al-Hudaybiya.
But afterwards, he reconsidered his position and said, "It is
the same either way." After that he turned to his companions and said,
"It is the same either way. I call you to witness that I have decided
in favour of hajj and umra together."
He then got through to
the House (without being stopped) and did one set of tawaf, which he
considered to be enough for himself, and sacrificed an animal.
Malik said, "This is what we go by if someone is hindered by an
enemy, as the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and
his companions were. If some one is hindered by anything other than an
enemy, he is only freed from ihram by tawaf of the House. "
Muwatta Malik Book 20, Hadith 102
from the nephew of 'Abdullah bin Salam who said: "When they were about to kill 'Uthman, 'Abdullah bin Salam came and 'Uthman said to him: 'What did you come for?' He said: 'I came to assist you.' He said: 'Go to the people to repel their advances against me. For verily your going is better to me than your entering here.' So 'Abdullah went to the people and said: 'O you people! During Jahiliyyah I was named so-and-so, then the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) named me 'Abdullah, and some Ayat from the Book of Allah were revealed about me. (The following) was revealed about me: "A witness from among the Children of Isra'il has testified to something similar and believed while you rejected. Verily, Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people. (46:10)" "Sufficient as a witness between me and you is Allah, and those too who have knowledge of the Scripture. (13:43)" Allah has sheathed the sword from you and the angels are your neighbors in this city of yours, the one in which the Revelation came to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ). But by Allah! (Fear) Allah regarding this man; if you kill him, then by Allah! If you kill him, then you will cause the angels to remove your goodness from you, and to raise Allah's sheathed sword against you, such that it will never be sheathed again until the Day of Resurrection.'" He said: "They said: 'Kill the Jew and kill 'Uthman.'"
Jami` at-Tirmidhi Book 49, Hadith 203
When Allah gave victory to His Apostle over the people of Mecca, Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) stood up among
the people and after glorifying Allah, said, "Allah has prohibited fighting in Mecca and has given
authority to His Apostle and the believers over it, so fighting was illegal for anyone before me, and
was made legal for me for a part of a day, and it will not be legal for anyone after me. Its game should
not be chased, its thorny bushes should not be uprooted, and picking up its fallen things is not allowed
except for one who makes public announcement for it, and he whose relative is murdered has the
option either to accept a compensation for it or to retaliate." Al-`Abbas said, "Except Al-Idhkhir, for
we use it in our graves and houses." Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "Except Al-Idhkhir." Abu Shah, a Yemenite,
stood up and said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! Get it written for me." Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "Write it for Abu
Shah." (The sub-narrator asked Al-Auza'i): What did he mean by saying, "Get it written, O Allah's
Apostle?" He replied, "The speech which he had heard from Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) ."
Sahih al-Bukhari Book 45, Hadith 9
I came to `Aisha the wife of the Prophet (ﷺ) during the solar eclipse. The people were standing and
offering the prayer and she was also praying. I asked her, "What is wrong with the people?" She
beckoned with her hand towards the sky and said, "Subhan Allah." I asked her, "Is there a sign?" She
pointed out, "Yes." So I, too, stood for the prayer till I fell unconscious and later on I poured water on
my head. After the prayer, Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) praised and glorified Allah and said, "Just now I have seen
something which I never saw before at this place of mine, including Paradise and Hell. I have been
inspired (and have understood) that you will be put to trials in your graves and these trials will be like
the trials of Ad-Dajjal, or nearly like it (the sub narrator is not sure of what Asma' said). Angels will
come to every one of you and ask, 'What do you know about this man?' A believer will reply, 'He is
Muhammad, Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) , and he came to us with self-evident truth and guidance. So we accepted
his teaching, believed and followed him.' Then the angels will say to him to sleep in peace as they
have come to know that he was a believer. On the other hand a hypocrite or a doubtful person will
reply, 'I do not know but heard the people saying something and so I said the same.' "
