Yahya related to me from Malik from Yahya ibn Said and 'Abdullah
ibn Abi Bakr and Rabia ibn Abi Abd ar-Rahman that al-Walid ibn Abd al-
Malik asked Salim ibn Abdullah and Kharija ibn Zayd ibn Thabit if he
could use perfume after he had stoned the jamra and shaved his head,
but before he had left for the tawafal-ifada. Salim forbade him to do
so, but Kharija ibn Zayd ibn Thabit said that he could.
Malik
said, "There is no harm in a man oiling himself with an oil which does
not have any perfume in it, either before he enters ihram, or before
he leaves Mina for the tawaf al-ifada, if he has stoned the jamra."
Yahya said that Malik was asked whether someone in ihram
could eat food with saffron in it, and he said, "There is no harm in
some one in ihram eating it if it has been cooked. If, however, it has
not been cooked he should not eat it."
Muwatta Malik Book 20, Hadith 23
"Ammar bin Yasir led us in prayer and he made it brief. Some of the people said to him: 'You made the prayer sort (or brief).' He said: 'Nevertheless I still recited supplications that I heard from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ).' When he got up and left, a man -- he was my father but he did not name himself -- followed him and asked him about that supplication, then he came and told the people:
"Allāhumma bi `ilmikal-ghaiba wa qudratika 'alal-khalqi aḥyinī mā `alimtal-ḥayāta khairan lī, wa tawaffanī idhā `alimtal-wafāta khairan lī. Allāhumma wa 'as'aluka khashyataka fil-ghaibi wash-shahādati wa 'as'aluka kalimatal-ḥaqqi fir-riḍā'i wal ghaḍab, wa as'alukal-qaṣda fil faqri wal-ghina, wa 'as'aluka na`īman lā yanfadu wa 'as'aluka qurrata `ainin lā tanqaṭi`u wa as'alukar-riḍā'i ba`dal-qaḍā'i wa 'as'aluka bardal `aishi ba`dal-mawti, wa 'as'aluka ladhdhatan-naẓari ilā wajhika wash-shawqa ilā liqā'ika fī ghairi ḍarrā'a muḍirratin wa lā fitnatin muḍillatin, Allāhumma zayyinnā bizīnatil-īmāni waj`alna hudātan muhtadīn (O Allah, by Your knowledge of the unseen and Your power over creation, keep me alive so long as You know that living is good for me and cause me to die when You know that death is better for me. O Allah, cause me to fear You in secret and in public. I ask You to make me true in speech in times of pleasure and of anger. I ask You to make me moderate in times of wealth and poverty. And I ask You for everlasting delight and joy that will never cease. I ask You to make me pleased with that which You have decreed and for an easy life after death. I askYou for the sweetness of looking upon Your face and a longing to meet You in a manner that does not entail a calamity that will bring about harm or a trial that will cause deviation. O Allah, beautify us with the adornment of faith and make us among those who guide and are rightly guided."
Sunan an-Nasa'i Book 13, Hadith 127
One of `Abdullah's sons said to `Abdullah (bin `Umar) "I wish you would stay this year (and not
perform Hajj) as I am afraid that you will not be able to reach the Ka`ba." On that he (i.e. `Abdullah
bin `Umar) said, "We went out with the Prophet (for `Umra), and when the Quraish infidel intervened
between us and the Ka`ba, the Prophet (ﷺ) slaughtered his Hadi and shaved (his head), and his
companions cut short their hair." Then `Abdullah bin `Umar said, "I make you witness that I have
intended to perform `Umra and if I am allowed to reach the Ka`ba, I will perform the Tawaf, and if
something (i.e. obstacles) intervene between me and the Ka`ba, then I will do what Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)
did." Then after going for a while, he said, "I consider the ceremonies (of both `Umra and Hajj as one
and the same, so I would like you to witness that I have intended to perform Hajj along with my
`Umra." So he performed only one Tawaf and one Sai (between Safa and Marwa) and finished the
Ihram of both Umra and Hajj).
Sahih al-Bukhari Book 64, Hadith 225
"The Messenger of Allah used to say: 'Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-hadmi, wa a'udhu bika minat-taraddi, wa a'udhu bika minal-gharaqi, wal-hariqi, wa a'udhu bika an yatakhabbatanish-shaitanu 'indal-mawti, wa a'udhu bika an amuta fi sabilika mudbiran, wa a'udhu bika an amuta ladigha (O Allah, I seek refuge in You from being crushed by a falling wall, and I seek refuge with You from drowning or being burned, and I seek refuge with You from being led astray by the Shaitan at the time of death, and I seek refuge with You from being killed for Your sake while fleeing the battlefield, and I seek refuge with You from dying of a scorpion sting.)'"
