Yahya related to me from Malik from Abd arRahman ibn Harmala that
a man asked Said ibn al-Musayyab about what a man who was junub and
had done tayammum should do when he came across water. Said said,
"When he comes across water he must do ghusl for what comes after."
Malik said about some one who had a wet dream while he was on
a journey and there was only enough water for wudu and he was not
thirsty and so he did not need to use it for that, "Let him wash his
genitals, and whatever the semen has fallen on, with the water and
then he does tayammum with good earth as Allah has ordered him."
Malik was asked whether a man who was junub and wished to do
tayammum but could only find salty earth could do tayammum with that
earth, and whether it was disapproved of to pray on salty earth. He
said, "There is no harm in praying on salty earth or in using it to do
tayammum, because Allah the Blessed and Exalted has said, '...and do
tayammum with good earth.' One is purified by tayammum with everything
that is earth, whether it is salty or otherwise."
Muwatta Malik Book 2, Hadith 93
Malik related to me from Hilal ibn Usama from Ata ibn Yasar that
Umar ibn al-Hakam said, "I went to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah
bless him and grant him peace, and said, 'Messenger of Allah, a slave
girl of mine was tending my sheep. I came to her and one of the sheep
was lost. I asked her about it and she said that a wolf had eaten it,
so I became angry and I am one of the children of Adam, so I struck
her on the face. As it happens, I have to set a slave free, shall I
free her?' The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him
peace, questioned her, 'Where is Allah?' She said, 'In heaven.' He
said, 'Who am I?' She said, 'You are the Messenger of Allah.' The
Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said,
'Free her.' "
Muwatta Malik Book 38, Hadith 9
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) entered the mosque and a person also entered therein and offered prayer, and then came and paid salutation to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ). The Mes- senger of Allah (ﷺ) returned his salutation and said: Go back and pray, for you have not offered the prayer. He again prayed as he had prayed before, and came to the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon. him) and saluted him. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) returned the salutation and said: Go back and say prayer, for you have not offered the prayer. This (act of repeating the prayer) was done three times. Upon this the person said: By Him Who hast sent you with Truth, whatever better I can do than this, please teach me. He (the Holy Prophet) said: When you get up to pray, recite takbir, and then recite whatever you conveniently can from the Quran, then bow down and remain quietly in that position, then raise your- self and stand erect; then prostrate yourself and remain quietly in that attitude; then raise yourself and sit quietly; and do that throughout all your prayers.
Sahih Muslim Book 4, Hadith 47
The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Allah will say to the people of Paradise, "O the people of Paradise!" They will say,
'Labbaik, O our Lord, and Sa`daik, and all the good is in Your Hands!' Allah will say, "Are you
satisfied?' They will say, 'Why shouldn't we be satisfied, O our Lord as You have given us what You
have not given to any of Your created beings?' He will say, 'Shall I not give you something better than
that?' They will say, 'O our Lord! What else could be better than that?' He will say, 'I bestow My
Pleasure on you and will never be angry with you after that.' "
Sahih al-Bukhari Book 97, Hadith 143
Al-Miqdam ibn Ma'dikarib and a man of Banu Asad from the people of Qinnisrin went to Mu'awiyah ibn AbuSufyan.
Mu'awiyah said to al-Miqdam: Do you know that al-Hasan ibn Ali has died? Al-Miqdam recited the Quranic verse "We belong to Allah and to Him we shall return."
A man asked him: Do you think it a calamity? He replied: Why should I not consider it a calamity when it is a fact that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to take him on his lap, saying: This belongs to me and Husayn belongs to Ali?
The man of Banu Asad said: (He was) a live coal which Allah has extinguished. Al-Miqdam said: Today I shall continue to make you angry and make you hear what you dislike. He then said: Mu'awiyah, if I speak the truth, declare me true, and if I tell a lie, declare me false.
He said: Do so. He said: I adjure you by Allah, did you hear the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) forbidding use to wear gold?
He replied: Yes. He said: I adjure you by Allah, do you know that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) prohibited the wearing of silk?
He replied: Yes. He said: I adjure you by Allah, do you know that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) prohibited the wearing of the skins of beasts of prey and riding on them?
He said: Yes. He said: I swear by Allah, I saw all this in your house, O Mu'awiyah.
Mu'awiyah said: I know that I cannot be saved from you, O Miqdam.
Khalid said: Mu'awiyah then ordered to give him what he did not order to give to his two companions, and gave a stipend of two hundred (dirhams) to his son. Al-Miqdam then divided it among his companions, and the man of Banu Asad did not give anything to anyone from the property he received. When Mu'awiyah was informed about it, he said: Al-Miqdam is a generous man; he has an open hand (for generosity). The man of Banu Asad withholds his things in a good manner.
