Abu Musa said, "I was with the Prophet (ﷺ) when he was encamping at Al-Jarana (a place) between
Mecca and Medina and Bilal was with him. A bedouin came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said, "Won't you
fulfill what you have promised me?" The Prophet (ﷺ) said, 'Rejoice (at what I will do for you).' The
bedouin said, "(You have said to me) rejoice too often." Then the Prophet (ﷺ) turned to me (i.e. Abu
Musa) and Bilal in an angry mood and said, 'The bedouin has refused the good tidings, so you both
accept them.' Bilal and I said, 'We accept them.' Then the Prophet (ﷺ) asked for a drinking bowl
containing water and washed his hands and face in it, and then took a mouthful of water and threw it
therein saying (to us), "Drink (some of) it and pour (some) over your faces and chests and be happy at
the good tidings." So they both took the drinking bowl and did as instructed. Um Salama called from
behind a screen, "Keep something (of the water for your mother." So they left some of it for her.
Sahih al-Bukhari Book 64, Hadith 357
Yahya related to me from Malik from Hisham ibn Urwa from his
father from Humran, the mawla of Uthman ibn Affan, that Uthman ibn
Affan was once sitting on the Maqaid (the benches surrounding the
Madina Mosque, or else a stone near Uthman ibn Affan's house where he
sat to discuss with people), when the muadhdhin came and told him that
it was time for the asr prayer. He called for water and did wudu. Then
he said, "By Allah, I shall tell you something which I would not tell
you if it were not in the Book of Allah. I heard the Messenger of
Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, say, 'If a man does
wudu, and makes sure he does it correctly, and then does the prayer,
he will be forgiven everything that he does between then and the time
when he prays the next prayer.' "
Yahya said that Malik said,
"I believe he meant this ayat - 'Establish prayer at the two ends of
the day and in some watches of the night. Good actions take away wrong
actions. That is a reminder for those who remember.' " (Sura 11 ayat
114).
Muwatta Malik Book 2, Hadith 29
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to say: “O Allah, I seek refuge in You from a heart that does not humble itself, and from a supplication that is not heard, and from a soul that is never satisfied, and from knowledge that does not benefit, I seek refuge in You from these four (Allāhumma innī a`ūdhu bika min qalbin lā yakhsha`u, wa min du`ā’in lā yusma`u, wa min nafsin lā tashba`u, wa min `ilmin lā yanfa`u, a`ūdhu bika min hā’ula’il-arba`).”
Jami` at-Tirmidhi Book 48, Hadith 113
Moses asked his Lord: Who amongst the inhabitants of Paradise is the lowest to rank? He (Allah) said: The person who would be admitted into Paradise last of all among those deserving of Paradise who are admitted to it. I would be said to him: Enter Paradise. He would say: O my Lord! how (should I enter) while the people have settled in their apartments and taken the shares (portions)? It would be said to him: Would you be pleased if there be for you like the kingdom of a king amongst the kings of the world? He would say: I am pleased my Lord. He (Allah) would say: For you is that, and like that, and like that, and like that, and that. He would say at the fifth (point): I am well pleased. My Lord. He (Allah) would say: It is for you and, ten times like it, and for you is what your self desires and your eye enjoys. He would say: I am well pleased, my Lord. He (Moses) said: (Which is) the highest of their (inhabitants of Paradise) ranks? He (Allah) said: They are those whom I choose. I establish their honour with My own hand and then set a seal over it (and they would be blessed with Bounties) which no eye has seen, no ear has heard and no human mind has perceived: and this is sub- stantiated by the Book of Allah, Exalted and Great:" So no soul knows what delight of the eye is hidden for them; a reward for what they did" (xxxii. 17).
Sahih Muslim Book 1, Hadith 371
`Ali sent a piece of gold to the Prophet (ﷺ) who distributed it among four persons: Al-Aqra' bin H`Abis Al-Hanzali from the tribe of Mujashi, 'Uyaina bin Badr Al-Fazari, Zaid at-Ta'i who belonged to (the tribe of) Bani Nahban, and 'Alqama bin Ulatha Al-`Amir who belonged to (the tribe of) Bani Kilab. So the Quraish and the Ansar became angry and said, "He (i.e. the Prophet, ) gives the chief of Najd and does not give us." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "I give them) so as to attract their hearts (to Islam)." Then a man with sunken eyes, prominent checks, a raised forehead, a thick beard and a shaven head, came (in front of the Prophet (ﷺ) ) and said, "Be afraid of Allah, O Muhammad!" The Prophet (ﷺ) ' said "Who would obey Allah if I disobeyed Him? (Is it fair that) Allah has trusted all the people of the earth to me while, you do not trust me?" Somebody who, I think was Khalid bin Al-Walid, requested the Prophet (ﷺ) to let him chop that man's head off, but he prevented him. When the man left, the Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Among the off-spring of this man will be some who will recite the Quran but the Quran will not reach beyond their throats (i.e. they will recite like parrots and will not understand it nor act on it), and they will renegade from the religion as an arrow goes through the game's body. They will kill the Muslims but will not disturb the idolaters. If I should live up to their time' I will kill them as the people of 'Ad were killed (i.e. I will kill all of them)."
