And not We sent in a city any Prophet except We seized its people with adversity and hardship, so that they may (become) humble.


7:94 Arabic

وَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَا فِى قَرْيَةٍ مِّن نَّبِىٍّ إِلَّآ أَخَذْنَآ أَهْلَهَا بِٱلْبَأْسَآءِ وَٱلضَّرَّآءِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَضَّرَّعُونَ

7:94 Transliteration

Wama arsalna fee qaryatin min nabiyyin illa akhathna ahlaha bialba/sa-i waalddarra-i laAAallahum yaddarraAAoona

And We do not send a prophet to any town, except afterwards We afflict its people with adversity and hardship that they may implore.
